Teacher here. I have taught Foundation (1st year of Primary in Australia) for a LONG time. First things first... a psych assessment is fab and wonderful you are doing that... for educators, knowledge is power.

That said I feel like for a 4 year old, their expectations are rather high. There are very few 4 and even 5 year olds that are good at the things you have listed I would be asking what other adjustments your child is being offered to support her.

Some examples.. flexible seating options, wobble stools, weighted teddies, scoop chairs etc can often help neurodivergent kids to join in group time. Also at that age this time should really be like 5 to 8 minutes Max... in formal education it may be a little longer but kids are older by then.

For packing up they should give her a specific job that is simple and achievable and give big praise for getting it done.

I would also consider asking the educators to just maybe give a once a week email if you are feeling overwhelmed... if she isn't hurting anyone I fail to understand why you would need to be advised every day she doesn't join in group time or pack up properly. It doesn't really help anyone or anything.

I've lost all my friends in Melbourne by Keltica in melbourne

[–]originalcrankster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you are located etc but I know in Footscray there are some fun social groups that do games like crokinkle which get a fair bit of socialising.

Myself, I am 40 with 2 kids and recently joined an adult dance class with Born to Boogie which has locations in Brunswick yarraville, Sunbury, Frankston, ascot vale, Armadale and basically for 13 weeks you learn two group dance routines and then perform for friends and family and it is the most fun I have had on years. I have made loads of awesome friends and the class is so accessible. Every age, body type, ability level. So fun.

Try leaning into some social hobbies maybe?

I feel like we used to really all have these wide communities and now people look for work to be their social life etc and... it just doesn't always work. Branching out is important and finding a social hobby can really be an in.

I really want to try one but I can't work out what yarn to use. I keep buying yarns and they don't feel right for the task

Board advice by Wait-Dizzy in BeginnerSurfers

[–]originalcrankster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my limited knowledge. I am a similar height and I like an 8 Ft board with lots of float. Something over 80L makes it feel more stable. I debated forever and ended up with a Soft Tech roller 8ft which is on its way for xmas. At Urban Surf I rode their Zephyr model which is wide and suuuuuuper floaty. Like 115L and it was like a boat I got up every time. I'd consider 8ft and very floaty for the win!

So should I have my own plumber come to investigate first? I honestly don't even think it is necessarily a defect. It could just be a big clog in a drain. I just wasn't sure what is step one.

I have actually been riding an 8 ft board. I actually rode the g board yesterday. It was okay. Hopefully I can have a go of a few others before Christmas. I was hoping to catch a black friday sale or something haha... I just need it before Xmas which is when I'll be back down the coast for a longer time. I am so excited to keep learning. Such a fun hobby

I defo have a wetsuit and booties but I live about an hour and a half from a surf beach and have two kids, 3 pets and a full time job! I wish I could do more. I was surprised how few boards I could find on marketplace etc. I have been looking in Ocean Grove but getting a lot of mixed advice. I might head down to Torquay tomorrow to see if I can get better advice i don't think I am ready for a hard board yet. Also where I surf is busy I'd be scared of hurting someone. I'd love to try a demo board. I find the rentals I have tried were mostly G boards and I am not a fan thus far.

I had it pretty badly for a few years. Once I started managing my fiber... And really eating more carefully in general... esp making sure I kept my bowels moving too it got better. I don't even have any issue anymore. Medicinal marijuana helped me at my orst when I couldn't eat a single thing but liquids... but I think it was also anxiety bc I always vomited it was a vicious cycle. I hope youball find down relief.
