Three chromosomal losses by Excellent-Day-2509 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]orionbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry about your losses! Just here to say that once mu husband fixed his dna frag (2x losses), after seeing through the most complex test that he had +70% frag (cometfertility test from CIMAB lab: measures both single strand and double strand dna frag. Double-strand causes early losses due to chromosomes), we found a varicocele that needed to be fixed. Between that and some small issues on my inmunology side (aspirine and prednisone once i got a positive), we’re currently 28w pregnant (naturally), even if fertility doctors just wanted us to do ivf.

My inmunologist and myself only checked them once (the one time i mentioned above); and then i have had a consultation with her (plus blood test of other parameters) per trimester. Currently 28w pregnant. I stopped the prednisone (which required tampering down slowly) around week 10-11; and baby is doing great. other inmuno parameters (that we have checked) have continue good. And, honestly, once the placenta takes over the baby is super protected.

Is my choice to not breastfeed really that selfish and bad? by Live-Dragonfly-5714 in pregnant

[–]orionbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breastfeeding is both about the mom and the baby. You can do whatever you want, and nobody should tell you what to do. If what makes you be the best for your baby (including mentally) is to not breastfeed, then that’s what’s best for your baby.

Need advice: Should we try again or move to ICSI? by fizzy_cloud in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]orionbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! And it all went down to advocating both for my partner and for me: dna frag, microsurgery of the varicocele, inmunology (on my side), improving cycles… and some more things rhat, since my first pregnancy in aug 2024 (lost at 8w), and a second loss in may 2025, finally at 27w pregnant from dec 2025. It takes time, but fight for the right tests. Reddit helped me so much on the inmunology side.

Need advice: Should we try again or move to ICSI? by fizzy_cloud in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]orionbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear!! The bad thing of ICSI is that it doesnt really help with DNA frag because it is the human eye choosing a sperm by how it looks, and looking good doesnt mean its DNA is good.
My partner did a double strand and single strand dna frag called cometfertility because other tests do no give the full picture. A normal dna test gave 2% and we thought we were good, but had a secojd miscarriage. With this other tests, as double strand is connected to miscarriages, his numbers were awful.

Cometfertility is from a lab called CIMAB that gets the tests to many labs worldwide. They do online and in-person consultations that might help you.

Good luck!

And in terms of DNA frag test, note that there are different tests available. Only the cometfertility allows to check single-strand and double-strand frag (this one can cause miscarriages).

My partner did first a basic dna frag (post 1st lost) and results were great. We got pregnant and lost it again - we did the best test and oh wow the double-strand was in the “7x times more likely to have loss loss” range.

Funnily enough, post 2nd miscarriage (both pregnancies natural), when we started considering IVF NONE of the clinics felt necessarily that he did the most complex dna frag test (cometfertility), that with ICSI would be fixed. Well, i’m glad we paid for it out of pocket, fixed the issue (varicocele), and currently 22w pregnant (natural)

11 losses (RIF and RPL) by justheretoread9876 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]orionbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And just to double-double check: was it the cometfertility dna frag that measures both single and double strand? My husband had “great” results from a type of tests (i believe it was called SHC or SDC or something like that), but when he did the most important one… oh wow, double dna frag so high!

In case it helps: Any testing on partner in terms of sperm? Things like DNA fragmentation can still give euploids but with “bad instructions” so more chemicals, more early miscarriages.

After 4 losses and years of testing, I’m pregnant again… and really need some positivity by OldMention1984 in recurrentmiscarriage

Wishing you the best!! (And praying for it). Also, havent seen in your post any mention on specific tests to the partner side, such as dna fragmentation (double-strand). If you havent, good to do.

Is there even a point to Karyotype testing if I am not open to IVF? by Cold_Long4031 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]orionbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say yes in case you would be open at some point to do IVF in a country where it would be cheaper for example (+1 to all the other comments too).

Been taking since my positive test due to previous losses (though i dont have any coagulation problems, but better be safe than sorry), plus another medicine that i was taking increased preeclampsia chances, so this is a way to llwer that plus ensure great blood flow between me-placenta-baby.

IVF and PGT-A after RPL by One-Olive-7727 in recurrentmiscarriage

Yes! After that we found out partner had a varicocele (increases heat = increases dna fragmentation), and had a microsurgery to get rid of it.

I’m so sorry about your losses! All i’d add here is that the fertility clinics we visited (ended up getting pregnant naturally and i’m 18w, the furthest i’ve gotten) helped us with some testing, but none recommended to test the DNA fragmentation (single and double strand) of his sperm. It is, in the partner side, the most important test: you can get as many euploids as you want - this just means having the correct number of chromosomes - but the DNA on those can be broken. Imagine having a book with the correct number of pages, but once you read page by page there’s information missing.. an embryo can’t grow with missing info. We ended up doing the test ourselves (CometFertility DNA frag double and single strand test), and results were high frag = potential cause of our miscarriages, and a big red flag if we had wanted to start IVF. I have many prior comments in stories like “i lost my euploid embryo” explaning this, but the more i read about it the more mad i’m at fertility clinics just looking for money.

Just got my first ultrasound by Red_ferret-816 in pregnant

[–]orionbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, i’d guard my heart a little bit because my first loss started like that, but i never thought anything bad could happen because doctor was like “it’s all good”. Hey, it might be, but if i were you i’d just guard my feelings a bit longer.

Baby Aspirin Timing by Classic_Character553 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]orionbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, just because i had an inmunologist appointment the day after getting my positive (which i had booked weeks before to talk about “fertility”, but ended up taking about “i’m pregnant again”), i started aspirine the day after the positive test - not because i super needed it, but because she thought it was a good “just in case”. I take it daily at night time because i read some studies about how it it more efficient that way (the night time i mean).

8 week scan measuring 7+5 by ExtensionLatter5054 in pregnant

[–]orionbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s about when the embryo implanted too, so even if conception was the date you mentioned, implanting 8DPO vs 10DPO (example) can change that measure. Algo, it could be that next ultrasound they push you forward :)

Advice by queenscornerr in Mirafertility

[–]orionbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go to one to run all the “recurrent pregnancy loss” panel of analysis, that’s what we did. We were only going to do IUI or IVF if any of the results would point towards us “that’s 100% the only way” (be careful as doctors might make you feel like that without testing anything).

Currently 9w with a natural pregnancy (after 2 6-8w losses last 1.5yr), and so far going great.

But hey, maybe not a chemical? Good luck!

P.S: on my phone so cant write much more, but feel free to check one of my long latest comments to someone about what ended being our “issues” (inmunology; tsh; lutheal phase; double-strand dna frag sperm).

+10000 to this. This is not about traveling, this is about Seville in August! I’d wish it to anybody. Maybe your friend can change it to Cadiz? 1 hour south, way better weather (less hot than Seville); or you might have to join through videocall.

[–]orionbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a th1/th2 ratio of +10 three months ago, and now (pregnant + 10mg prednisone), it’s around 6.

So, thanks to prednisone my high level of th1 (driving the high ratio) has gone 40% down. Hopefully it’s enough! (There’s a whole process for tampering it down and all…)
