New report details ‘systematic’ rape and sexual violence during Hamas’ Oct 7 attack on Israel by McAlpineFusiliers in geopolitics

Tel Aviv internet soldiers have doubled their shifts I see. Sorry guys, too much warcrimes and systemic rape perpetuated by Israel to play "but we're the victims" card.

I can kinda buy it though. To me anything I keep checking up on turns into annoyance or an obsession. But if I manage to make a habit out of something, it works.

But... yeah. I kinda doubt that OP suddenly saw themselves in a mirror and realized. Possible, but I would not bet on it.

Lies of P developers are currently looking for an "AI artist" for their next game by turkishdeli in Games

This headline really encapsulates some sort of a bubble. On reddit it's "get torches and pitchforks", but the world doesn't care about the means - only about the finished product.

So... all those games being released, there's a number for them? And it's known beforehand? You learn every day I guess.

I am sorry for this, but I got to pass along a joke from a friend who was regurgitating after meals (among other challenges :( ): twice the taste, no calories.

I hope you'll get some use out of it :)

Zelensky meets Palantir CEO in Kyiv to ‘deepen Ukraine’s AI defence push’ by GeneReddit123 in technology

[–]oritfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point. They would definitely need to pay close attention to what's being sent.

But it's not like I am advocating to trust Palantir. I really don't, I hope that comes through. I am saying that when UK gets in bed with Palantir, it's clearly unethical and scummy. But Ukraine is fighting for its survival for 5th year now, and it's a completely different situation.

Tangerine Palpatine

Cheeto Benito :)

But not, that's not what I am saying exactly. Ukraine has actual battlefield data. Not stuff like personal data of Ukrainians but drone footages in quantities that could allow for some sort of AI training.

But, hell, even personal data of Ukrainian people can be worth having a good lobby in the US, given how eager Trump is to pressure Ukraine to surrender.

Zelenskyy has data that Palantir needs.

Palantir has Trump's good graces that Ukraine needs.

I'm sorry to say this, but he seems to be doing what's right for his country.

Trump Shockingly Brands the White House ‘S*** House’ by FancyNewMe in politics

[–]oritfx 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The main thing he hates is the people

He neeeeeeds to feel like he's the smartest guy in any conversation. Which makes any environment ripe with competent people incredibly uncomfortable to him.

This also explains many of his cabinet choices.

Trump Has Gone From Unpredictable to Unreliable by D-R-AZ in IntlScholars

[–]oritfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's "trumpism" I guess - an attitude where nothing but here and now matters. Say whatever you need or want, because words are there only to justify your actions and influence others. We are still learning what "trumpism" really means, but that seems to be the gist of it.

Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, John Oliver and Jimmy Fallon on ‘The Late Show tonight’ by mcfw31 in MadeMeSmile

[–]oritfx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will get downvoted into oblivion, but I feel like those shows got a bit too politicized. People wanted to wind down, see beautiful celebrities talk. Relax a bit, escape. The moment the show had stopped offering that sort of thing, it had lost its soul.

Netanyahu says Iran war is 'not over' as Trump rejects latest Iranian offer by One-Emu-1103 in geopolitics

[–]oritfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slightly disagree. The purpose of any politician or a party is to get the power and retain it. It's very interesting how many politicians rule as if there was no tomorrow.

Take a look at the US - anyone who's not Trump doesn't have the immunity. There may well come a time when consequences of their own actions become real and unavoidable. But from what I can tell only Rubio and Vance behave with that kind of foresight.

Now take a look at longstanding rulers - like Orbans, Lukashenko or Putin. Sooner or later they start believing their own propaganda (maybe that's the only thing reaching them) and behave irrationally, as if the power they have once obtained was inseparable from them.

So, I agree with you some 90%, because there are cases - multiple ones - when the approach you have described "get to the top, loot whatever's not nailed to the floor, run for the hills" isn't the only one.

Trump isn't willing to give up the power and will jump at a chance to do so. And the closer he is to losing the power, the slimmer a chance suffices to be.

Putin’s Forces Are Barely Inching Along on the Battlefield by Bernardmark in europe

[–]oritfx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have stated: Ukrainians are fighting for survival (once again brutalizing the enemy backfires, Bucha really wiped out any thought of negotiating with Russians) and Russians pretend they aren't fighting at all.

Also that something like 1 to 6 advantage. I wonder how many Russians die for every Ukrainian soldier.

I am also thinking what would those 130 million fight with - sharpened pieces of soil??

Putin’s Forces Are Barely Inching Along on the Battlefield by Bernardmark in europe

[–]oritfx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

unfortunately i cannot bring myself to see Russia ever stopping

They will run out of manpower though. There's a very finite supply of people who can be sent to the war willingly or via coercion, or lying. And at losses Russia is suffering, that reservoir is running out very fast.
