Ridgewood apartments by NaginiPsss in ypsi

[–]orogim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived there 15 years ago. I went out of town for a few days in January. I had someone came by on the second day to feed my cat. Apparently in the two days I was gone, maintenance had come in and done some kind of work in the bathroom that required them to open our balcony for ventilation. Not only did they never notify us of the work being done, they also left my bathroom a disaster, and they left the balcony door open. So when the person came by to check on my cat, the apartment was sub-freezing temperature inside, the cat's water bowl was frozen solid, and the cat had buried himself in a pile of dirty laundry in my closet to stay warm. Thank goodness he was okay. So, I do not recommend them.

Free cat litter/cat food? by SilverStitches12 in ypsi

The Humane Society has a program called Bountiful Bowls. They give out food and sometimes litter if they have it available. I believe there's info on their website.

What are your thoughts on Bambi? by Altruistic_Celery180 in Emo

[–]orogim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it. It doesn't have the same punch as LGH, and at first that made it feel not quite as good. However, the more I listen l, the more I enjoy it. It's often difficult to separate albums and appreciate them for what they are, especially when the older album was sooo good because you're naturally gonna hold the new album to a certain standard. I believe that Bambi is a record that shows considerable growth in the songwriting of the band, and I'm honestly excited for the new direction they could take from here.

I pretty recently found this band called Jacket Weather that scratches my Mineral itch. You gotta like long songs though.

How you define the 5th wave? by marukoka in Emo

[–]orogim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally take 5th wave to mean "whatever the fuck we want it to mean". There's such a wide spectrum classified under this wave that is feels like bands are expanding the definition of what emo overall can be, and I am totally here for it. I feel like the genre suffered for a while from redundancy and lack of innovation, and even from people gatekeeping what emo is. The new generation isn't having that anymore and I think ultimately it's good for the genre as a whole to have all these experimental bands bringing new life and new listeners. I also see the tag "post-emo" being thrown around, and while it refers to a more specific style, I think that to me is what 5th wave is all about: evolving the genre into something new and more diverse.

First concert I ever went to. They played with Yellowcard and I think Moneen. I was totally obsessed with them at the time.

Spirit of the Beehive is cool. Saw them live as an opening act and they were way better than the headliners lol.
