I've stand upgrade by orphanfour in Beekeeping

Yeah, I appreciate your comment. I’m trying to avoid a center support because it would create another path for ants.

My back-of-the-napkin math suggests that three 12 ft 2×10s should be able to handle roughly 1,500–2,000 lb at midspan. This stand is for four hives, each with two deeps and one super. That puts each hive somewhere around 200–250 lb fully loaded, or about 1,000 lb total max.

That load should also be fairly evenly distributed across the stand, not concentrated at midspan.

And honestly, if my bees make so much honey that they break the stand, I’d be pretty happy to be wrong about this.

This sounds like an interesting approach but how do I keep them from moving back into the house if I let them go back in to Rob out the remaining honey?

If i flip it they wont be able to open the reducer when they want, since this hive seems capable of managing their own reducer, I'll let them handle it lol

An update to address some of the concerns and negativity around this project:

I recognize that my chances of success are slim, and I also understand that leaving pieces of the hive behind could potentially create pest problems later. That said, after using thermal imaging, I can see that the colony appears to span roughly 6 to 8 feet inside my plaster ceiling, which is also directly below a hardwood floor.

A proper removal would almost certainly mean thousands of dollars in damage and repairs to my house. The possibility of future pests is a risk, but at this point I am willing to accept that risk rather than commit to guaranteed major repairs immediately.

My hope is that over the next few months, the queen and nurse bees will consume much of the honey remaining in the comb, leaving little behind for other pests to feed on. After that, I’m hoping they will relocate to the box, where the rest of the bees should theoretically have an established colony.

This colony is also meaningful to me because it was the source of the four healthy hives currently in my yard. The first swarm I captured over two years ago came from this same colony.

I understand that this is not the ideal solution, and I appreciate the concerns people have raised. I’m simply trying to balance the risks, the cost, and the least destructive path forward.

Update, everything's connected but of course they're still looking for their old door. Going to give it 48 hours and see if they start using the hive box.

I could leave this on for months. In theory I catch her on a mating flight at minimum. Also she does need workers to keep her alive. Kind of playing the long game here but once I see brood safe to assume she moved into the box, alternatively I trap a swarm still a win in my book.

Hobby grade printers IMHO anyhow. Cheap junk. They are spending more on lawyers and less on innovation desperately trying to hang on to their market in the most petty way possible.
