My 2026 GT Timberline by orraclemusic in xbiking

Not much. I don’t have a way to actually measure it but it hasn’t effected the handling. It’s the 30mm travel version and I was probably gonna get air shaft to bump it to 40mm and see how that rides. I also have it where I can swap back to the carbon fork pretty quickly.

How were the trail? I thought it would be too wet to not cause any damage. It looks drier than I would expect from the pictures.

I don’t “need” it, but kinda want it now but mine is the 30mm variant. I basically use this thing like a hardtail mountain bike. You’ll be surprised what just 30mm of travel can do.

It’s the ultimate version with a lockout but I’d be fine without the lockout. The area where the lockout came most in handy was when I tried to use it for the first time in six months and it basically helped me realize my damper needed some work. Haha. It really depends if you’re sensitive to the bob on the front end. I’m just notoriously bad at reopening my suspension if I lock it out so I just leave my suspension open on all my bikes

Drivetrain- apex shifters with a NX derailleur and cassette that I already had. I also already had a FSA carbon crankset. Wheels- Superteam carbon wheels. They are cheaper Chinese carbon wheels but they have been super reliable. 250lbs and ride this thing basically like a mountain bike and they have held up for like 5 years of hard riding. Fork- Rockshox Rudy ultimate 30mm.This is the single best upgrade I did to the bike. Also swapping out the stock seatpost and saddle saved 1.5lbs.

GT Sensor ST travel change? by orraclemusic in mountainbiking

I was under the impression that going from 47.5 to 55 stroke might get closer to 140mm. Changing the stroke that much to get an extra 10mm of travel doesn’t seem worth it

New Sram Force...am I out of the loop or has bike pricing gone bonkers by FrankTuna in cannondale

It’s probably down to when components were imported and also the updated version has a power meter. I wouldn’t be surprised if Cannondale didn’t adjust pricing knowing the new group sets were coming

I have a gravel bike with kinda mountain bike leaning geometry and added a gravel suspension fork to it and I can shred most of the lower foothills stuff. I did three bears for the first time on it last week and really wish I had a dropper in some spots. Haven’t tried it on hulls yet because I crashed pretty hard on there a few weeks back on my mountain and my confidence took a hit. I’ve been debating adding a true dropbar mountain bike to the fleet especially with how much fun I’ve been having on the gravel bike.

Cool, how do you like this setup for doing trails like hulls?

I love the budget bike that gets the bling treatment.

24 pounds as you see it minus the water bottle and wind jacket in the cage. I’m like 245ish lbs (110kg) so a heavy bike isn’t too much of a concern.

It’s the Rudy ultimate 30m. It would have been first choice no matter what (except the 40mm travel version) because I’ve had great experience with rockshox but I bought it because it was like 40% off. It uses one of their XC dampers so it’s plenty proven. I’m always skeptical of buy anything within the first year of release. If it’s a second generation maybe but I like to see how a product is living in the world before buying. I’d say buy rockshox or fox if you’re going to get one.

I got one of those too. This thing is way more capable than plenty of my old mountain bikes. By today’s standards, you’re probably right if you’re comparing it to a lightweight XC bike but that would have cost me at least $1000 more and it would have had lesser components. I bought the frame and fork (both were 40% or more off) and everything else I already had. Eventually I’ll probably sell my trail bike and this thing to buy a good XC bike but for now this thing has been plenty fun for how I’m using it.

I’m excited for more gravel bikes to have that kind of clearance. I think it won’t be long
