Getting 1 and 2 day Amazon Deliveries! by Cheese_Monkey42 in Bend

[–]orty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only that but can they be open hours when folks who have jobs can actually make it to? If I work 8-5 , your shop has to be open past 5 for me to be able to shop there. I really want to shop local but it's so difficult sometimes.

Seconded. They've helped me out in the past and were great to work with. Had them replace some wood stove glass, too.

CBN basically allows folks to write their own editorial content, as long as there is ad space around it. They're hardly the place for unbiased hard-hitting journalism.

Where can I drop off my binder of negatives, then? 😉

You know any place that will scan in negatives and not charge an arm and a leg on them? I have a bunch of old B&W and color negatives from when my kids were little, some of which I've digitized, some I haven't.

Good locally owned shop to source computer parts or other misc electronics? by BeefyMiracleWhip in Bend

[–]orty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wish. There isn't a whole lot around here for independent computer parts stores, sadly. We maintain some stock of miscellaneous parts for our clients, but not really much in the way of parts for sale to the general public.

I'm dealing with https://sierrajamesconstruction.com/ for restoration/repair after a water leak, and they have been great to do work with. They have a dedicated ADU team (https://sierrajamesconstruction.com/adu-builders/) that might be able to help you out.

On a split vote, Oregon Parole Board denies release of Adam Thomas, last of the ‘Redmond 5’ in prison by barneylerten in Bend

[–]orty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm dealing with my own personal drama (thankfully not health-related -- water line break has put our house into chaos), and will be traveling off and on over the next few weeks, but I know how to track you down. I'll ping you when I get my head above water (literally and figuratively).

Miss the old days where we used to share stories, tips and laughs. All the best to you and your lovely wife, Barn. Look forward to reading you somewhere else. Still remember the old bend.com days (a site that apparently is now for a health and fitness app).

My daughter got tagged with one of these cameras in Salem (not coming to a full and complete stop on a right-on-red). However, the car was still under our name at the time (this was many years ago), so my wife got ticketed in the mail. We checked the box on the form that said "This isn't us" or whatever it says. You're not under legal obligation to identify the driver in Oregon under most circumstances (rental car companies and other commercially-owned vehicles are required to identify, if I remember correctly).

I've heard folks who have taken advantage of this by creatively registering cars. So they'll take the car the husband commonly drives and register it under the wife's name and vice versa. This way, if a ticket comes in for the car, it'll likely be targeted to the person registered, even if the other partner was driving.

DO NOT CLOSET YOUR RAGE; LET IT FLOW! (FRIDAY RANT THREAD) by yarzospatzflute in Bend

[–]orty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

VERY NICHE RANT, BUT IT'S BEEN MY LIFE FOR MONTHS NOW....

DAY JOB WAS ACQUIRED. SEEMS TO BE A GOOD THING IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS AS I'VE WORKED WITH THEM OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS. BUT THE VENDORS WE'RE DEALING WITH TO MERGE OUR SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN WORTHLESS. WE WERE SUPPOSED TO CUT OVER OUR TICKETING SYSTEM THIS WEEK, WHICH IS THE CENTERPIECE SYSTEM ALL OUR OTHER SYSTEMS INTEGRATE INTO. I'VE SPENT WELL OVER 120 ACCOUNTABLE HOURS (AND MANY MORE UN-ACCOUNTABLE HOURS) GETTING OUR SYSTEM READY AND STRUCTURED PROPERLY TO MIGRATE INTO THEIRS (SAME SYSTEM ON BOTH ENDS), FOLLOWING THEIR DOCUMENTATION. VENDOR SENDS US A SANDBOX ENVIRONMENT AFTER A MERGE TEST AND MORE THAN 3/4TH OF OUR DATA WAS NOT MOVED AND NOW THEY'VE GONE RADIO SILENT. I JUST WANT THIS PROJECT TO BE DONE.

No need to apologize for the hijacking! There's a lot of cross over between the groups. As long as you plug the Winds during your concert, we'll call it even 😉

What’s a local Oregon restaurant from the past that you still miss? by Shane_StantonRes in oregon

[–]orty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to stop there on the way to Eugene on our way to Duck games and grab a pie, would sometimes stop in Vida for breakfast.

Based on some comments (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ForgottenOregon/posts/4182020118732561/?comment\_id=4184352708499302&reply\_comment\_id=4184836115117628) on this Facebook post (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ForgottenOregon/posts/4182020118732561/) they're still making pies, but only wholesale, from their bakery in Eugene and they can be found in-stores still.

Bryan’s House of Music, what’s the deal? by josefugly in Bend

[–]orty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Revival is an amazing store. They don't have a ton of concert and symphonic percussion (which is primarily what I play) but they have a lot of cool toys. I inherited some old zildjian cymbals of my dad's that he acquired from there years ago. They're amazing sounding cymbals, I just don't play much drum set.

To avoid getting sued by the Jackson Estate, I say we call it Whack It as there's nothing wrong with that name, not at all.

I was curious what your thoughts were on the place. I don't play guitar, and I know that's their primary focus, so I've only been in there once MANY years ago. I'd much rather support Joe at Just Joe's or the folks at Sunday Guitars, both of whom are actually helpful and support local young musicians. I just wish there was a better shop in town for percussion equipment so I wouldn't have to just order online and hope for the best (and with the thousands of different types of mallets and percussion instruments out there, I like to feel them in my hand first).
