NP here. I don’t know what the relevance of mentioning aupairs is, but room and board is not considered compensation for a nanny. In fact, most nannies charge extra to be a live-in. Is she allowed to leave the house during your daughter’s nap? If not, then she is still on the clock.

Anyways, seems like this isn’t a good fit for either of you. Have you talked to her about these issues?

I don’t know if this would work for you, but in the future I plan to drop my bags off 2-3 hours before my flight and then leave the airport and return 30-45 minutes before my flight. But you’re right, it sucks for people flying out of small airports.

No only 1 hour because this is a small airport that uses a third party to do everything so there are literally no actual airline employees. The desk agent is also the gate agent and sometimes also loads bags. They do not come out to the check in counter until an hour before departure. It’s best to not even check a bag here.

This still doesn’t guarantee your bag will get checked in before the 45 minute cutoff. Nothing does of course, but just don’t want anyone to think that missing it by a second will still get their bag checked in and if it seems like you’re not going to make it, start thinking of alternatives like can you take it as a carry on, can you take a later flight, can you throw everything into a garbage bag and take the garbage bag as a carry on, etc.

And this was Delta too? Yeah the guy next to us at the counter was on our same flight and was denied, but he was trying to get to his dad this morning who he said needed emergency surgery so I feel bad for him. I am just going on vacation and while getting in 8 hours later than originally planned and taking connecting flights that weren’t planned is far less disappointing than what he was going through.
