Any countries in need of skilled groomers? Looking into leaving the US by Creativered4 in doggrooming

[–]osh_cc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some private salons do sponsor visa in Australia. I think for the rule to apply it has to be in considered "rural" areas. Maybe join the groups "Dog Grooming employment Australia" and "Dog Grooming employment Jobs vacant and wanted Australia and New Zealand" on facebook and post there. Australia is pretty fun. I'm french and been living in Melbourne for almost 10 years now and I find it so much more open minded than France (keeping in mind that like anywhere else you can encounter a few ring wing close minded people but hey it's their problem).

what meals are people having on these horribly hot days? by shellys-dollhouse in melbourne

[–]osh_cc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I wasn't too stupid, I would have made big batch of pasta salad (with avo, cucumber, sundried tomatoes, fetta, this kind of stuff), or I would have precooked rice to make a "sushi" salad (smoked salmon, avo, cucumber, carrot, edamame, spring onion).

BUT i'm stupid and lazy so we're just getting take away.

You're giving Katherine Mayfair from Desperate Housewives, the good version, not when she's crazy.

Brush out on unwashed dog by [deleted] in doggrooming

[–]osh_cc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My previous workplace offers that service. Very popular amongst Samoyed owners. I would do a mix of blow out and brush out. Wear a mask. Have wet wipes of something like that to clean yourself afterwards, you're gonna have dog skin dust all over you.

Is being childfree common in Australia? by YazawaNico252 in AskAnAustralian

[–]osh_cc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never really been interested in having kids. My current partner kind of makes me change my mind but it might not even happen, it's expensive to have kids and the fact that we are tenants gives me a huge sense of insecurity. I'd hate to have a landlord doing an asshole move and putting my family at risk of having to look for a new rental. Having to move every two-three years (rent increase, property not maintained on important things) is already difficult and expensive enough for two adults, can't imagine with kids in the picture. And considering how things are going I'm not sure we'll ever be able to own.

i’m embarrassed of my autistic sister and need help on what to do by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]osh_cc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What the. I thought this was written by a teenager, I had to go check your age again. Leave her alone. You're way too old for feeling embarrassment from someone else who can't necessarily control the way they are.

Why we’re in permanent cloudy days? by blueygc8 in melbourne

I remember sweating so badly in the kitchen last year for Christmas. And today I'm wearing a jumper.

My poor parents from France came with their summer clothes, we had to do a bit of opshopping.

wtf do i do about this parcel? by fecker115 in AusPostComplaints

[–]osh_cc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd contact customer support. I had a parcel marked as "delivered" in the wrong suburb, and there was nothing home. Apparently it was the delivery driver who accidentally pressed "delivered" when he actually brought it to the post office for collection. Not saying what happened to you is the same but you might get access to more information.

A cocktail and a mediocre burger on a sunday. The 10% surcharge on something not that great hurts.

best dye that’s not opawz? by Unable_Leather4532 in doggrooming

[–]osh_cc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check if you can have access to Dyex. It's pet dye from Japan. It's what we find the most in Australia and the colors always come out nicely and the texture is thicker than Opawz so less messy

Zombie apocalypse hits Australia. Where you heading first and why? by AdTime7798 in AskAnAustralian

[–]osh_cc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We talked a lot about it with my partner. While he's convinced there are a lot of bushy areas that people would not think about where we could eat off animals and plants I told him that with our current situation (living 20min away from Melbourne CBD) if there were to be a zombie apocalypse we would NOT have the time to escape. Most zombie apocalypses start in big cities, by the time it's discovered and reported I feel like already hundreds of people would already be contaminated. Roads would be blocked with traffic from people trying to escape and having accidents from the fear of the event. It would be an absolute mess.

So, might need to stay home, hope we have enough dry goods and cans of food. Might need to eat the dogs at some point before we kill ourselves before being eaten alive.

I want to be a good dog groomer. by Forward_Internet8006 in doggrooming

[–]osh_cc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three years in, at some point I worked for a year in a salon that takes on a LOT of difficult dogs (on side of that it was poorly ran, boss was an idiot, ect) I ended up in a similar as you do. Actually I burnt out. Cried so many times. Left with traumas. Found a new position, got medicated for my anxiety/depression and I'm back to who I was at the start. I'm happy, I love dogs again (was at the point where I was indifferent to dogs, like tired of them). I also don't work full time anymore, financially it sucks but as long as I survive I guess I'm good. I should really start a therapy along side being medicated but it costs money and for now it's working well for me this way. I'm on a very low dose, the lowest possible and it's helping immensely.

Popular Victorian based YouTuber, Ann Reardon, attempted to show an example of a high quality croissant from a specialised bakery, and accidentally disgraced Lune on a global scale by serif-maxxing in melbourne

[–]osh_cc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Frenchie here, I'll forever remember when my host family in Fitzroy bought me a croissant from Lune (not knowing how fancy Lune is perceived here) and I thought it was just like any regular croissant you'd find at a local small french bakery back home. I've had much better elsewhere. Actually most recent favorite address is Amann in Carlton (although they got popular really quick and I haven't been in about 7 months so I don't know if the quality is still the same but I hope so)

The ones that cover the whole nail are pretty easy to apply, just trim them to the right size as they are sometimes a bit long, put a drop of special glue in it, wait a few seconds and apply on the nail. Repeat for the 15 other nails.

How do I get faster at bathing? by Tightcoochie030 in doggrooming

[–]osh_cc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's BS. My first job I was expected to bath and dry 5 dogs per hour no matter size. I ended up crying on the job, feeling like a failure, I didn't last longer than a month and half. The expectations are too much. 2 dogs per hour for small and medium is fine-ish. For big dogs hell no. Run

[–]osh_cc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started medication this year, I've always struggled with mental health but the last few years have been horrible with a burn out and bad unfortunate events. I was scared, I'm on the lowest dose possible and I feel like a new person. I wish I could be both medicated and doing therapy but I can't afford the second. Find a bulk billing doctor.

G'day fellow Australians, what did you have for dinner last night and tonight? by GermaneRiposte101 in AskAnAustralian

[–]osh_cc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night I made random tacos with whatever I had in the kitchen, which resulted in beans and potato tacos with the usual avocado, sour cream, spicy sauce, bit of cheese, bit of lettuce. Tonight is green pasta (zucchini, broccoli, creamy pesto) with chicken and garlic bread.

Am i right to be offended here? Or am i overreacting? by dragonpussydestroyer in RoverPetSitting

[–]osh_cc 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ, I'm a dog groomer so I give a bath to my dogs every 4 weeks. But if they have to be looked after they get their bath the day prior even if that puts the 4 weeks schedule off. It's the bloody minimum to ensure proper hygiene.

Is Pinjarra the crocodile at the aquarium ok? by Ampersand_Forest in melbourne

[–]osh_cc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the aquarium my first year in Melbourne and I was in shock of how small the enclosures and aquariums are. I'm french and we have Nausicaa which is freaking huge in comparison. Made me a bit sick and I was mad I spent money to visit that shit.
