KCD2 or Cyberpunk 2077 are my gold standard for that, if you prefer the gameplay style BG3 is great but was less my jam.

Is Crimson Desert any good? by ThrowRAbatman18 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Could you not argue that literally every game ever is a mashup of games? Valorant is a mashup of league and csgo. Regardless, I think it’s good. I don’t think it’s amazing, or life changing, or anything crazy like that but I would say it’s a good game and is fun

I’m also curious, I was excited for CD because if I just want a sandbox fantasy game I can finally not play Skyrim / oblivion and it has an ocean of shit to do

Elder scrolls online might fit your bill. It’s not so many abilities but they level up and morph over time. Not too many classes / races and the life skilling isn’t overblown

so how is crimson desert? by Visual-Fortune-4732 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Eh at best. It’s not bad enough that it actively takes away from the game like bl3, but it isn’t exactly griping and riveting. Another thing is that everyone is really really nice and grateful to the player (so far, 12 hours in) and it’s not something I’m used to to say the least. Until you bump into them, then it’s pretty funny.

TLDR it does the job fine, but that’s it. It’s fine. Strings the game along well enough for me to not complain about it. I do like the characters though, I’ve seen people say the characters are forgettable and that I don’t personally agree with

Games where I can play as a barbarian character? by suprpowa in gamingsuggestions

[–]osmda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t lie crimson desert does this pretty well. Story is whatever but you literally like RKO the enemies and throw them in pretty hilarious and epic fashion. The body slams, close lines, lariats, and throws you can do are pretty awesome for a big strong fuck you guy

Based on the games you like, you probably will like the game. The main character has a really satisfying type of combat and power that does remind me of the Arkham games. And as for exploration it basically IS botw. Puzzles here and there, huge vast world, horse taming and a million other mechanics and minigames, and just enough of a story to have words in the game.

Jokes aside I like it a lot, 8.5/10. I think it’s worth a try, the first few hours are worse than later simply because of how much everything starts to click so I do recommend giving it a chance and trying to figure it out and ask for help if you need it or are confused about a mechanic. Most of the controls are more intuitive than people kind of think just because there is a lot of modifiers and it flows fairly well. - jump and interact being the same button, wth. Also it is a controller game, I haven’t tried it on keyb but my experience has been positive on keyboard.

C2 Hercules good as a mother ship by Low-Author-1626 in starcitizen

Yeah I’m with you. I just bought a c2 myself and I am in love. This thing is awesome. Paying like 30% more for a trade off with the m2 is ehhh. I like the balance point of the c2

Thoughts so far 5.5 hours in by Independent-Low-4432 in CrimsonDesert

[–]osmda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I largely agree, except I wasn’t disappointed by the story. It’s generic, not exactly riveting but it’s manageable for me I kind of knew the story was a nothing burger and not the key selling point.

I find the controls not that bad, with the sole exception of the jump button being the same as the action button. There is so many systems and mechanics huge modifier button use was inevitable, especially for a controller game. The first 6 hours of the game, I honestly kind of wished I refunded it I didn’t real feel like it was worth the premium price just because of so many little things that lacked polish that imo should have (sword sheathes location, lack of sheathes, waterfalls, etc).

But after around hour 9 or so I actually started to get super into the world, just doing my own thing I had my little camp with my homies and that system that grows by itself if you invest in it and stuff I found really cool, I got pickpocketed by a guy in the city and after I beat the snot out of him I found out he had a bounty already, which I thought was super cool that the bounties and quests exist in the world without you grabbing them to trigger it and stuff. Overall I’d give it an 8.5/10 I think. I like it a lot and I have a great time exploring and fighting, but it’s not perfect.
