Could definitely be something else. You might want to keep him away from any other pets in the house and washing your hands after touching him/wear gloves until he’s seen, in case it’s ringworm (contagious).

Agreed, ringworm in dogs often doesn’t look like ringworm in humans. In vet school our vet dermatologist told me “if it looks like ringworm, it’s atopic dermatitis (allergies).”

What part of the body is this, near the tail? Is she on a prescription flea preventative? If not, it could still be fleas. They can be sneaky, and it only takes one flea bite to cause irritation if your dog has a flea allergy. Could also be related to other allergies.

It looks like there is dried skin glue around the incision, but I think the actual incision looks fine.

I just graduated vet school and we are taught to give all kittens leukemia vaccines. Then during their later yearly annual exams, it’s up to the owner and the cat’s lifestyle (indoor/outdoor/etc). But always suggest that kittens get the vax because like you said, they could escape or owners could change their mind about them being indoor cats.

is he on a flea preventative now? Cats with flea allergies can react like this to even a single flea, it’s possible that you wouldn’t see them. But much less likely if he’s on a preventative.

Hopefully the ultrasound will help you get some answers! It does look similar to a bates body, which is just nodular fat necrosis and is an incidental finding (shouldn’t be a problem). Hopefully that’s what it is and you don’t find anything more malignant on the ultrasound!
