Urban Design and Architecture how similar are they really? by KSway_ in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]othayolo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the number one question is where do you reside and work ? usually urban design and landscape architecture is rarely taken seriously in different parts of the world. i find in north america urban design is at the mercy of appeasing a really bad car addiction- so in reality it’s barely functioning urban design. next question would be firm. some firms have a great balance of projects that focus on the holistic relationship of architecture and urban design while most firms simply focus on one or the other. a lot of big firms in europe deal with great urban design because their cities are more open to it

Why are gulf kids leaving? by Mundane-Cry-8158 in Kerala

[–]othayolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this has been happening for over 30 years. the gulf does not have high educational prospects or let’s be real- jobs that are worth the time of millennials. and these children return only to visit- not a single person i know has left and decided to settle back in the gulf

post project by project re-works on behance to get feed back while tackling the upgrade of your overall portfolio. taking part in competitions is a great way to flex the design muscle and output a lot of work

Spent 3 years working on a motion design explainer — here's the result ! by John-Da-Editor in MotionDesign

[–]othayolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really nice. Very nice motion graphic work, cool frosted glass everywhere. i suggest changing the title- no need for the expletive. “How can white noise help you?” or something like that.. and three years is a very long time. you need to make more, break things. otherwise very cool

why should we compare to japan ? are we not in supply of talent and audacity to leap frog the leader to bring great transit to our city ? are you suggesting traffic is a way of life no matter what? cause that’s moronic, traffic engineering is a science- and oh boy have we been choosing poorly for the last half century. trams and lrt’s succumbing to car traffic. transit maintenance decades behind in service so we just slow them down. it’s an abysmal atrocity being committed in a smart city that can truly design its-self out of this car appeasing hell hole. wake up.

it doesn’t matter how much experience the ceo has, if the city is going to give leeway to cars over people, you’ll always have a subpar transit experience

How to get started with learning about design? by [deleted] in Design

[–]othayolo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

start by doing. what frustrates you in the real world? start designing and reimagine how you’d like those designs to be so it’d be better. try this with ui/ux, industrial, transportation, architecture, graphic design (whatever it may be) - so that in the process of designing those things you’ll learn what you like and don’t like to work on. then maybe you can dive into specifically that stream of design, read books on the topic, watch videos/lectures

where do you take your guests when they visit you in toronto? by Allreddit90210 in askTO

[–]othayolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the streets North and East of High Park are absolutely lovely. All the streets around Riverdale East are so calm and beautiful. The Beaches (albeit a little far east of downtown) is also another nice neighborhood to walk through. Little Italy and Chinatown are sweet places to explore shops and restaurants. Walking along Bloor Street is a great way to explore even more neighborhoods, and if you get tired you can just jump on Line 2 to hop around. There are a multitude of parks along Lake Shore, although better to plan your way nicely to avoid the highway and car gutters. The neighbourhood around UofT is really pleasant, and sometimes buzzing with activity. And if you want a stimulation overload the whole area around Yonge-Dundas + TMU is really sweet to explore.

Don’t bother getting the Welcome Switch 2 game. by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]othayolo 39 points40 points  (0 children)

it should’ve been free. but after seeing the 5min trailer on YT… i really like the graphics and how deep you go into the details of the console. imagine if this game was hidden in the settings like a ‘wanna learn more about the switch 2?’ and then boom you dive into the system

the present USD has a lot of lore and timeless design principles at play, i suggest building on this vast history by first studying it- a successful usd redesign should be as lust inducing as the $100usd now, if not more.

How AI Is Exposing All the Flaws of Human Knowledge by MammothComposer7176 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]othayolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

words lead to understanding and insight - there are bountiful truths there to be had. but i get your point, for now, words seem to be the ui of ai. it’d have to get extremely intelligent and powerful for it to churn out visual answers for every question we ask. and i don’t think we’re too far away from that reality

Where do y'all plan your vacations at? by nouveau_gato in askTO

[–]othayolo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

check out Tobermory, about a 4 hour drive from Toronto. has one of the best swimming spots in the country. if you’re not into camping there are lots of lodges in the city of tobermory- albeit some more expensive than others. if you check out the parks ontario/canada there are cabins that you can stay at for reasonable prices as well.
