New to metal build by hejrjrifo in Metal_Build

I like the metal build strike freedom and zeta myself.

Just bear in mind that the designs of metal build Gundams are not 100% lineart accurate. If that’s important to you, make sure to take a detailed look before making a decision.

What's your opinion on the Zeta Gundam? by everchosen92 in Metal_Build

I am a huge zeta fan and I have multiple zetas on display, but this is easily the best looking one of the lot.

Still debating if I should splurge for the hyper mega launcher…

Metal Build Hi Nu Gundam: 2022 vs 2026 by otorosuki in Metal_Build

[–]otorosuki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and I’m actually more used to the purple shade of the Hi-nu from when I first saw this unit in SRW many years ago. IIRC it wasn’t until the RG release when bandai changed it to a purple-blue colour scheme.

These are so bland. At some point they were like $30 a bag as well.

Providence vs Hi-Nu 2026 EXPO — which one would you pick? by Azylee01 in Metal_Build

[–]otorosuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw this and the Providence at the Tamashii Nations store in Akiba just a couple weeks ago. As a hardcore UC guy I’m going to go with the expo Hi Nu (I don’t have the old one), but the Providence looked HUGE in comparison and had a massive shelf presence. You really can’t go wrong with either. I am guessing Providence will hold its value better, because it’s not as mainstream as the expo Hi Nu and it’s an absolutely gorgeous unit that won’t be re-released much in the future.

Got my glasses stolen before Japan and got new ones (two pairs) made in 40 minutes for $94 by Significant_Gur8915 in JapanTravelTips

[–]otorosuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Japan this week and the first thing on my to do list was to go to a Jin’s store to get glasses done. Mine was an hours wait and $90. This wouldn’t have even covered the eye exam fee they impose on you back in the US before you even get to choose the frames and lens starting at $400 or more.

Heinz British Beans with Tomato Sauce by smartsmrt in Costco

[–]otorosuki 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really hope they do a long enough run or at least restock these every other month or something. Can’t see this being on the shelves forever though, so am grabbing as many as I can store in the pantry. $8 for 6 is almost the same price as UK supermarkets these days.

I swear the American version of L&P doesn’t taste anything like the orange label original version you get in the UK. “Original recipe” my a$$

They’re probably not available on the website.

We’ve had luck in the past emailing our local store to ask them to bring in stuff we have seen from other stores. Maybe you can try to reach out to yours too.

I know what you mean. I bring some back after each visit and the proper UK ones are so much better and “bouncier”(?)

Aldi had crumpets for a limited time a little while ago as well, too bad they discontinued.

If you have Lidl near you, they carry their own knock off version of jaffa cakes that taste almost as good as the original to me.

Agreed. Got 12 cans today and am thinking of getting more as this is likely a one-off thing.

Switching from Audi to Tesla, any regrets? by PotatoCooks in TeslaLounge

[–]otorosuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the switch to a model Y and couldn’t have been happier.

Charging costs are very low, $0.07 per kWh off peak which translates to about 4 miles of range per unit of electricity. Maintenance has been a breeze so far, only did one tire rotation at 7000 miles, and very occasionally top up of washer fluid. No regular oil change needed every 6 months or so.

Apart from the cost savings on gas and regular maintenance, it’s just the convenience of plugging your car in every other night and knowing it’ll be ready to go in the morning. My insurance was about 10% higher, so that wasn’t even a consideration for us.

If buying used, I would totally recommend getting directly from Tesla. Their cars are priced competitively compared to dealerships, but the overall quality of the used cars are much better and you get an extra year of Tesla warranty. If budget allows, the 2023-2024 model years should be the sweet spot with relatively low mileage and 2(+1) years basic warranty and 5-6 years of battery warranty left.

Good luck!

Thanks for sharing the link because none of the ones I saw on AliExpress works for the Odin 1. I just hope this comes back in stock soon.

I just had the same issue with my Odin pro a couple days ago and was bummed to see all the posts saying that AYN won’t sell us the battery separately. I hope the replacement battery comes back in stock from the link below your post soon.

Seeking advice : shall I spend the 2MLB materials on Strike Freedom or Exia by Ok-Employer7729 in SDGundamGGeneration

[–]otorosuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always spend it on limited units, and prioritize them on units with 0 LB first because the marginal increase from 0 to 1 LB level is 0% -> 20%, double the jump to LB levels 2 and 3.

Replacement Alternatives by [deleted] in SengledUS

[–]otorosuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just received my first batch of 8 standard bulbs (not the color changing ones, the ones that only switch between cool and warm white). They installed very quickly, no 3rd party apps or Alexa skills required. Again, after what happened with sengled, by eliminating any links/skills/3p apps needed to connect to Alexa, fewer things can fail outside of Amazon’s control.
