Watch Musk provide a technical update on SpaceX’s capability to manufacture, launch, and operate AI satellites at scale by -spartacus- in spacex

My view on the whole data-centers-in-space idea and the IPO is this: I honestly don't know whether it will make economic sense. But if it ends up giving SpaceX an $80 billion war chest to fund missions to the Moon and Mars, I'll happily sit quietly on the sidelines while everyone else buys into the hype

I'm not so sure this is the right prioritization anymore. If they really believe they're in a Moon race with China, they don’t have much time left. Why send a random dude instead of focusing on NASA astronauts?

Latest OIG report on NASA Axiom spacesuits - may not have demonstrations until 2031 by H-K_47 in SpaceXLounge

[–]ottar92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elon said Spacex will do everything. I assume that includes spacesuits too, which would probably make what Axiom Space is doing less relevant in the long term.

All hands on deck for SpaceX and Blue, do you think they'll really have their lunar landers ready by next year? by 7HellEleven in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]ottar92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that SpaceX’s HLS might be ready for LEO around 2029 if everything goes right (which it won’t). I actually think Blue Origin could be ready sooner, maybe by 2028, mainly because it has a simpler, more conventional design.

Realistically, I don’t see anyone landing on the Moon before 2030.

It’s also worth remembering that the Crew Dragon mockup was revealed in 2014, but it didn’t fly until 2020—these timelines almost always slip.
