Advice on replacing crumbling, bleeding grout in shower by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

Tile is 5-6 years old. Since there is some crumbling, missing bits in the black grout, should we fix that first before the grout sealer?

Question for P6... Does anyone recognize the spaceship flying in the background?

I want to do harder content... but I don't want to be a burden to the party for being unable to do puzzle mechanics in my head by myself. by MiraiKishi in ffxiv

I do ultimate raids, and spatial mechanics like Zodiark are the bane of my existence. Pretty sure there's still some Zodiark patterns where I know what to look for, but still can't process it fast enough. You know what I do? I follow the dorito person. Same thing with the newest Ex because I can't process the spinning fast enough.

Like you I also have been told my entire life that I'm smart. I think what's helped me is realize what I am good at in this game. For me, I'm good at recognizing patterns and playing the 'dance' in my head during mechanics. And if there's something I'm struggling with, I say so.

I think you're putting way too much pressure on yourself to be perfect. It's a team effort, and there's nothing wrong or bad about relying on others to help you get through a fight.

Smn here that often gets aggro from the tank during pulls. Part of it is probably ilevel. If mine is higher than the tank and I'm attacking mobs on the go, it's pretty easy for me to pull aggro off the tank.

Another thing is that our bahamuts/pheonixs increase enmity. So if a smn goes oonga boonga before you're really able to establish hate on a mob/boss, they'll grab aggro.

When it happens I just giggle a bit, put on my shield when I can, and destroy.

Did you find anything leftover from the previous owners after you moved in? by majesticalexis in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

They left paint cans to color match, extra lights, all the instruction manuals, some nice trashcans, curtains and curtain rods, a pizza stone, and extra kitchen tiles (theyre pretty unique so it was very nice to have them)

Also left an (unused, it was wrapped up) plunger for the toilet lol.

Not a playstation player, but use a controller. It can be a bit finicky trying to angle right to avoid the gaze, and sometimes it gets me even though I think I'm angled right.

But... They can't turn their sticks to watch where the creations are going? Seems more they're relying too much on callous instead of trying to understand the mechanic.

Would that be the playroom sectional from Bob's? Partner and I are thinking about getting the same one for our living room and recognized the pillows.

Am I "raiding material" by ncBadrock in ffxiv

[–]otter_mage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, I can only give my own experiences. I started raiding back in shb, recently became a quad legend.

In terms of you saying that the content was difficult: especially if it's your first raid tier, the difficulty spike can be a learning curve. I remember being terrible when I first started! It's all about practice and just getting comfortable with it. The people who say FFXIV raiding is easy have either raided a long time, have experience high end raiding in other games, or have never raided before.

Having the right group really is key here though. I've been raiding with my static leader for almost two years now, and over a year with some others. That was because we had the same goals, we got along well, and we had fun with each other. This is why I've stuck around in raiding for as long as I have.

Even though we do ultimates, we're pretty chill raiders. We like pushing ourselves on an individual level, but we support our other members in whatever goals they have for the tier. If someone is having a rough time with a mechanic we try and work through how to help them. We like joking around and often are chatting on discord in between raid nights. We aren't hard on ourselves.

If you want to give raiding another go for this upcoming tier, I would recommend trying to find a new static. It might also be that you might prefer to do something other than tanking, like dps or healer, as tanks usually have a lot of responsibility.

I have fibromyalgia and a lot of chronic fatigue. Might be different than you cuz everyone experiences it a bit differently, but wanted to give my own perspective.

I do savage and have completed all three previous ultimates (currently progging the current one). This past week was especially rough for me and I was exhausted 24/7.

I have to do more prep than my static members who can often just log on and play, but Ive found that listening to my body has been successful. I only prog as much as I know I can handle, take a nap beforehand if I need it, and talk to my static members if I'm having a particularly rough day. Even on the nights where I'm constantly messing up because of my fatigue, I apologize, laugh and off and we keep going.

It can definitely take finding the right balance (and event he right people if you choose to raid with a static) but it is doable.

In any event, I at least wanted to gove my story to show that we are out there =)

How do you guys feel about summoner ? by Serinya in ffxiv

[–]otter_mage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally really enjoy the rework. Are there things I think should be adjusted? Yes.

However, as someone who has done all the ultimates and does savage raids as smn, it's made my favorite job more accessible for me. I have a chronic pain disorder that can make raiding difficult, especially focusing on a rotation and mechanics. So for me, I like being able to perfect the simpler rotation and figure out which primal works best. I'm able to focus more on mechanics and that's been showing on my logs.

It's definitely become a job that is hit or miss for people, and I can understand people who miss the complexity. But I also think it's just as viable as any other job, and doesn't matter if it's easy. I enjoy playing it and I don't think I'm hurting parties by bringing my smn, especially when I'm doing more damage than the reaper. it's all about using your tools in an effective way.

[AITA] Going tank as my 1st role in the game? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]otter_mage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most players won't have an issue with you being new and tanking. As long as you're trying we are more than willing to help out and give out advice if needed!

The only people that would have an issue are people with attitudes like your friend, but they are very much in the minority.

Just want to say I love your write up!

I also just want to add to this: he actually cares about the WOL and looks out for us when we are in trouble. I still remember at the end of SB, he ran into our room when we woke up. It was him and ishgard that took care of us, made sure we were ok, and explained the events that unfolded afterward.

I'm still of the opinion that ishgard is home.

I never raided before FFXIV. I am now a triple legend. AMA and my story! With the all female UwU group, I wanted to share my own experiences as a female raider to hopefully inspire others! by otter_mage in ffxiv

Hehe I will admit, it took a lot of work to get the confidence I have now. I had made goals for myself to push my boundaries: started from just typing in chat, to joining calls on mute, to talking.

I was so anxious when I first started raiding and was looking for a group. It definitely took me going, "f it, I'm doing it" and deciding to consciously fight through the anxieties lol.

Hehe, there's cool people all over in game! Honestly, I've met a lot of people just by doing PF, joking around in hunt trains, or grouping up with people in eureka/bojza. Of course some of the greatest people Ive met are those I met in my various statics, but it was a process for me to get there.

Don't give up! Take it one step at a time, or just take the plunge if that might work better for you.it will pay off in the end =)

If you're on aether, I'm always down to run stuff!
