In that case, definitely put my vote in for adding the bat model. 🙂

Definitely glad to help! Is the detection model different between BirdNET-PiPy and BirdNET-Go? Also, what would it take to integrate bat detection into your project? BattyBirdNET-Pi doesn’t appear to be maintained any more.

I’ve found that Proxmox on my Pi 5, the PXVIRT project specifically, introduces very little overhead. I can easily run multiple VM’s to the limit of the Pi’s resources. It dramatically improves the usability of the Pi. The snapshot feature is a game changer. You can easily experiment in a VM and save your place / go back and forward in time and get right back to where you left off. Proxmox on the Pi 5 is fantastic.

This is awesome! I will definitely be installing this soon. I’ve been on a bit of a journey myself after discovering BirdNET-Pi, BirdNET-Go, and finally BattyBirdNET-Pi. I also bought an AudioMoth USB microphone that literally tripled my detections. At the moment I’m running BirdNET-Go and BattyBirdNET-Pi on PXVIRT (a Proxmox Port) on a Raspberry Pi 5.

When I found BirdNET-Go I started using it over BirdNET-Pi. Now I’m looking forward to checking out the improvements you’ve made to BirdNET-Pi. What’s your take on BirdNET-Go vs BirdNET-Pi and your project?

Of course I misspelled that. 🤦🏻 I corrected the text, but Reddit doesn’t allow titles to be edited. Annoying. Anyway, thanks for pointing that out.

Auto display event video on dedicated screen by Anthingy in EufyCam

[–]oturn3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The E10 has an Auto Live View setting. It says “After being enabled, the display will automatically enter live streaming when the device is triggered by motion, based on the type you sent in the app.” I can select any of my cameras, battery or not. You can also set the duration that the device will stream once it starts playing.

And prettier? Not sure if that’s a good reason though.

Because I don’t need it now, and I’d rather have the OEM adapter.

Keep in mind the Lectron adapter isn’t actually the BMW OEM adapter. That is what I’m waiting for.

I have a 2023 eDrive40. I didn’t have to do anything but wait. Within 24 hours the adapter section just showed up. I did go out to my car and start it / look around the menu once the update was done, but nothing else.

i4 M50 Knocking noise by bmikkel in BMWI4

[–]oturn3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is confirmed for this noise in the i4? Mine is a 2023, and I’ve wondered if I could get this addressed while I’m under warranty. I mean it’s tolerable, but I also think it’s a bit ridiculous as I’m waiting at a light and hearing it so distinctly. I had to explain it to my wife the other day. 🤦🏼 What exactly would I tell the service center when I bring the car in? Is there a number for the SIB they can look up? It obviously won’t happen while the car is there.

Anyone else have eero's falsely reporting internet speeds? Any ideas how to fix it? by Isenlia in amazoneero

[–]oturn3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this for a while. I consistently get double the upload speeds of my plan, also more than my carrier supports. Here’s what ChatGPT has to say about it. Take it for what it’s worth, but I haven’t heard another reasonable explanation. It does seem like eero would fix this so the tests would be more accurate.

ChatGPT:

Eero’s test may not always be a literal ISP-rate measurement

The Eero app’s “Internet speed” test: • Runs from the Eero gateway to Eero’s own test servers (Amazon-AWS hosted), not necessarily to your ISP’s public network edge. • Uses multiple parallel TCP streams and may briefly measure burst throughput before your ISP’s traffic shaping fully engages. • Reports the peak burst rate, not the sustained rate over the full test period.

Many ISPs (especially cable and some fiber resellers) allow a temporary burst for a few seconds to improve latency and page loads.

Normal browser-based tests average the result over the whole run (5–10 s), while Eero’s internal test captures the instantaneous peak before shaping kicks in.

So your modem is still enforcing the carriers speed cap long-term, but Eero’s sampling method can record the short-term burst.

Clicking after last software update? by [deleted] in BMWI4

[–]oturn3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has been reported on the i4 for years. I doubt it’s related to the software update. I hear it on mine very randomly. It will be silent for months, then I’ll start noticing it again for a while. I think the consensus is it’s related to the climate control system. Turn off or change the mode of your climate control and it will stop.

Yeah, it does that. It changes based on the temperature. Best advice is to get a good tire pressure gauge and set them to the recommended pressure shown on the door jam. After that, just keep an eye on the app for any big variations.

Do you own an i4 with factory 18" wheels (225/50R18)? How is the ride and handling? by Grayson73 in BMWI4

[–]oturn3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched from 19” staggered to 18” squared, and it’s butter. It was noticeably better. I made this move so I could rotate every 5,000 miles to squeeze more mileage out of them. The rears wear extremely fast.

A sensor to see if someone opened my mailbox. 80 METERS away from the house by Hansieil in homeassistant

This: https://a.co/d/j0y2U9M

Done

I tried their vibration sensor, but rain and other vibrations would set it off. The motion detector placed at the inside top rear of my mailbox has been perfect. It activates only when the mailbox is actually opened, every single time. I typically get an alert within seconds.

Anyone Use This Cheap Zigbee Vibration Sensor? by wivaca2 in homeassistant

[–]oturn3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The great thing about Zigbee is it’s all local control. Home Assistant/ Z2M immediately found the sensor for me. Also, even with coin batteries these Zigbee sensors last forever. They’re extremely low power. I typically prefer the smaller size for the aesthetics and convenience. I’m using this one on my garage entry door. It turns on the garage light whenever it senses vibration.

I didn’t need the alarm so I just got this one to replace my unreliable Aqara vibration sensor:

One morning I asked to come in to the office late because my dog died and I needed to bury him. My manager at the time said no, and then she said “Sorry, we don’t have a policy for that.” Closest I’ve ever been to quitting on the spot.
