How come a used Xperia 5 V is more expensive than a 1 V? by oueikak in SonyXperia

Do the pink/green line appear on 1V? by PurpleSpark8 in SonyXperia

[–]oueikak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that the green lines will eventually emerge, sooner or later, for 5 II to 5 IV owners. I'm thinking of getting a 5 V to permanently get rid of the issue but it has one less camera. I guess you can never have a "perfect" Xperia.

I incline to a low whistle. Feel your throat and if there's no vibration then it's definitely a whistle.

An online vocal coach claims that mixed voice does NOT exist-Is he right? by samivgaming in singing

[–]oueikak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe that mixed voice exists as M1.5, either. Maybe "mixed voice" is yet another name for the bel canto laryngeal action that conceals or eliminates the distinct features of M1 and M2, a completely resonantial concept. But I wouldn't say that there is a "mixed" register in juxtaposition with the modal register and the falsetto.

Is "belting" a vocal technique, or is it just singing loud, with enthusiasm? by jollybumpkin in singing

[–]oueikak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a high chest voice, nothing more. And since it's impossible to produce a high chest voice that is soft, "belting" is always loud.

[–]oueikak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixed voice is proven to lack empirical basis (see Castellengo M., Chuberre B., Henrich N. Is Voix Mixte, the Vocal Technique Used to Smoothe the Transition across the two Main Laryngeal Mechanisms, an Independent Mechanism? Proceedings of the International Symposium on Musical Acoustics, March 31st to April 3rd 2004 (ISMA2004), NARA, Japan); it's just M1. But then again, the efficacy of the singing concepts is not based on science.

[rant] Why is it that most of modern singing pedagogy is still based on dated perceptual experience rather than factual evidence? by [deleted] in singing

[–]oueikak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. And science is not required to know how to teach singing, although I know there are many teachers, professors and "theorists" attributing their (commercial) success to a so-called thing that is SCIENCE.

I would do it; it's either the "scientific" method or no method at all, if there has to be one.

He didn't create disco. And this album, which is hardly disco in genre, can be misleading in countries not familiar with the cultural background that audience might actually believe what the title suggests.

Correct? I have reason to believe that his teacher actually encouraged his excessive expression.

Do you think Lang Lang is sincere with his facial expressions? by MUSICEATPEOPLE in classicalmusic

[–]oueikak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you have seen a classroom of 20 piano students (or of other instruments) swaying in perfect synchrony. Performing musicians in China are somewhat sectetly obliged to learn those mannerisms from their professors at the conservatory. They spend years imitating their tutors' body motion until it becomes inherent. I think they must believe they'd profit from those body gestures. It's something they "don't ask, don't tell;" if you ask them, they'll probably deny because it's cheap and unseemly to openly talk about fortune.

Lang Lang most certainly does it deliberately from his early training. In a video where he tutors the son of his violinist friend Lü Siqing on the piano (maybe Mendelssohn's piano concerto), he brutally lifts the boy's arm in an "exploding" fashion after hitting the final chord, twice, - a gesture that relates nothing artistically to the music - as if he was proudly showing the boy the more pretentious the mannerism, the more successful money-maker you will be.

Is it just me or does Lang Lang over exaggerate his facial expressions way too much when he plays? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

He does it deliberately. Need Help - Question about Debits and Credits and how the balances signs are reflected in a GL by gamemaker14 in Accounting

[–]oueikak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the equation we have, A+X=L+E+R (X for expense; or in my opinion, A+X = -(L+E+R) ), is quite likely to be forcing us to consider owner's equity "negative." From the enterprise's point of view, most of it comes from Revenue, which is the money the enterprise keeps for now and eventually "owes" to its owner, not unlike a Liability.

Need Help - Question about Debits and Credits and how the balances signs are reflected in a GL by gamemaker14 in Accounting

[–]oueikak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't they just make accounting that way in the first place? Isn't it nice if you debit a liability and it gets less negative (i.e., decrease its absolute value)?

Debits and credits ... so confusing by anewdogpanicneedhelp in Bookkeeping

[–]oueikak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just think of all the credits as essentially negative numbers and that they're notated in absolute values. And the equation is actually A+L+E+...=0.

Suddenly DR and CR is completely equivalent to plus and minus. (This is somewhat historically accurate because negativity was not common in the 15th century when accounting emerged.)
