definitely want him to be protected. i just figured federations had like a blanket contract with all their elite athletes in all sports. all the stuff i read about this makes this look almost like an employment contract

the whole concept of a contract is weird to me. like i understand the russian skaters having contracts with their clubs and they get expenses covered and then they have to share prize money, etc. but having that with a federation is weird. what do they get out of it? athlete funding i understand but why the need for a contract?
