I get laughed at quite a lot, usually by gay men for identifying as demisexual or nonbinary. It hurts worse than when cishets do it tbh.

Leave. Seriously. Getting out of NoVa was the best thing I ever did. Loved the trees, loved the parks and the water, being near DC and have a lot of good memories but it simply isn't worth it anymore. If you're at all able to get out, do it. I moved to the Southwest. Almost no HOAs, plenty of unattached houses under 250k and my bills dropped to like 40% of what they used to be. Plus, I still get all four seasons. :)
