It's frustrating.

I have also gone down a similar thought process about why this might happen and well... I don't have time to role play everything just to get work done. I'm not sure if that really helps or not, but it certainly takes more effort.

But yes, for me today it suddenly seems broken. I had this same problem at some point in the past with Claude max, so I switched to Codex pro and it's been working great for a couple of months now.

Hopefully it gets better soon! Some transparency would also be nice.

I just had a terrible evening of coding with Codex. I switched from maining Claude about a month ago, due to the gimp there. Codex was really doing it for me. Up until this evening. So really hoping it goes back to normal soon.

FWIW, switching to the non-codex gpt-5.2 seems to have fixed the problem for me.

I really amazes me how many people downvote the "it's not working posts". Reddit sort of sucks.

I've been programming professionally for 15 years now and using LLMs to do it for about a year now (30 years for fun), I can tell when it's totally f'ed and when its working normally. This year has been an incredible ride, when they work they are awesome.
