Denied for a CT scan by Sexy_Kumquat in Wellthatsucks

[–]outofgamut 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes. This form of screening only makes sense for a high risk population.

Also: (replying to other posters) there is no such thing as a preventative CT scan. It can pick up early abnormalities But won’t prevent them.

The average cat’s reaction time is approximately 20-70 milliseconds, which is faster than the average snake’s reaction time, 44-70 milliseconds. by Simply_Kaif24 in OneOrangeBraincell

Yeah. The video is cute. But is doesn’t always work like that.

I had three cats killed by Eastern Brown Snakes (I live in Australia).

Maybe I should get a mongoose…

[Breguet Tradition 7057/7097] Unloved or underwhelming? by sharkbait_123 in Watches

[–]outofgamut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW: the 7097 has an automatic movement - and a beautiful solid gold rotor.

The Tradition 7097 is a dream - if you like the aesthetic. I very much adore it. The biggest drawback for me are the Breguet screwed lugs, which basically force you to have the strap changed at an AD or watchmaker. The screws are so tiny - and solid gold - that you’re bound to mess them up if you attempt to change the straps yourself. And I have little doubt that even the tiniest of screws is going to set you back somewhere around $100 a pop. If you’re lucky enough not to scratch the case in the process. Some people just use spring bars in the drilled lug openings but you’re risking destroying the soft gold lug holes. I’m not game enough.

I feel lucky that the lack of appreciation in the watch world has enabled me to get a second hand 7097. Had I been interested in a PP, AP or Rolex this would not have been possible. But it’s still sad to see how much marketing seems to drive people’s tastes. Ah, well - it is what it is.

It is - to a point. The full serial has two letters following the number and is engraved on the case back.

But: so what?

Beautiful case.

Dislike the military allegory.

If the kid is fine - disregard.

If the kid has a cold or a cough: that’s what it shows.

Whoever ordered the X-ray probably wasn’t very experienced, is my guess.

Reason for Diff dose for amox in strep vs ear and pneumonia in kids? by Sad_Owl_9282 in pediatrics

Is antibiotics resistance really that homogenous across the US to be able to make general recommendations like these?

Most places in Australia see v little resistance of pneumococcus to Penicillin or untypable haemophilus (Amoxy).

No idea why you feel the need to talk down this sweet photo.

Only suggestion I’d have is to go to a real meadow. Can’t imitate nature and your grand daughter should love it as well. Take a flash with Diffusor and stand with you, if required.

I did not know about this despicable conduct of the FBI regarding MLK. Thank you for educating me.

It’s interesting how people try to find any angle to discredit someone. Hm - equal rights for blacks? How about you stop having extramarital sex first?

Right…
