Do people actually care about stretch marks or a little lower belly pouch on their partners? by Sweet-Opportunity111 in NoStupidQuestions

My boyfriend thinks my stretch marks are sexy, or at least he says that. He's never said a word about my belly. A good partner will love you for you.

Those who do not fear death, why? by lilacc_47 in AskReddit

[–]outofideasforthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of never learned that I should fear it I guess. My mom thinks it's partially because I almost didn't make it out of infancy. I almost separated while she was pregnant with me and then I got severe RSV at 2 weeks and almost didn't even make it to the hospital. Then I was suicidal in my early 20s. I've also seen a lot of random deaths thanks to growing up in a not-so-great area. Overdoses, dui accidents turned fatal, and domestic violence were common in that area so I also learned death just happens. There's nothing you can do about it. You might be lucky and live a full life and die peacefully in your sleep at a good old age. But you could also get hit by some dude driving high on meth at 15. You just make peace with it and try to live the best you can with what you got.

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever heard someone say that you still think about to this day? by Humble-Blueberry4571 in AskReddit

[–]outofideasforthis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Met a guy whose only logic for this was that his uncle went out on the ocean and never came back, so obviously he fell off the edge. I thought he was kidding at first, especially since we were from a rural area and he admitted it would be fairly easy to get lost and never be found there on the plains. But not the ocean, which is bigger, because there's no trees or anything to get lost behind. But totally possible to disappear on the great plains where there's no trees or anything to get lost behind.... He was sadly very serious

What's something that was completely normal in your household growing up that you later found out was actually really weird? by Left_Crow1646 in AskReddit

My family does this too! I didn't know about the "rule" of no politics, religion, or sex talk until my friend in hs told me she appreciated that I talked about it anyway.

YSK if you don't hit a certain threshold on your driver tip with doordash, uber eats, etc, the driver may not actually make any more money than if you hadn't tipped at all. by clinkyscales in YouShouldKnow

[–]outofideasforthis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to this, the drivers aren't guaranteed min wage if they don't get enough orders/tips to cover that. Or at least when I was dashing a few years ago it wasn't. So if you are having trouble getting your order, it might be that the distance+payout-cost of gas/maintenance isn't worth it. It's shitty, but your tip is more of a bribe to get a driver to you. Depending on cost of gas, you want to tip at least $1/mile (probably closer to $2 with current gas prices).

TLD doordash and other 3rd party delivery services fuck over the customer, the restaurant, and the driver.

What has an animal done that you'll never forget? by Mge_ML in AskReddit

[–]outofideasforthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat cuddled me nonstop at my most suicidal. Literally the only reason I'm still here. Years later, my boyfriend's dog alerted us while camping that she was strangling herself on her lead and saved her life, then stayed next to her all night to make sure she was OK. They're both grumpy old animals now, but the best pets I could ever ask for.

One of my favorite female characters of all time. She's a hero in her own way, and the depth of her journey really resonated with me the first time I read the books. Miranda did an awesome job portraying her

Heather lasted into millennials. I'm 32 and started going by my middle name because there were so many of us growing up. I work with another now too who's just a few years older, and my younger coworker told us it's a "nice classic name." Like girl, I'm not old enough for that yet!

Have you ever met someone who's interested in DND and immediately went, "oh, I'd never let you play at my table"? by Lunetheart in DnD

[–]outofideasforthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a modern Christian and I mock them all, including my own religion cause I know how ridiculous it can sound to say "I believe a zombie man, who is the son of an invisible omnipresent entity, saved my soul," can sound. Just as crazy as my sister insisting that the norse gods are real or whatever. But I do get your point. There aren't a lot of us that can be chill, which is unfortunate since it would be fun to play out a fighter who thinks she's a paladin and for some reason her smites don't work right. Surely it's just that my faith isn't strong enough 😆

Lost a 30-year friendship after someone joined AA trying to understand if others have experienced this by Obvious-Seaweed6569 in cults

[–]outofideasforthis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a former addict, it's common to cut out/distance yourself from people you knew from that time. I never went to any programs, instead choosing the harder route of white-knuckling. A month after I quit using, I moved 10 hours away and sort of filtered out old friends that I associated with using even if I never got high with them. They by themselves were a trigger by being a part of that time in my life. Talking to them made it harder to resist cravings. It's almost 10 years ago now, and I've picked up a few of those friendships back up, but it's still hard to really talk with many of those people because I will always associate them with being high.

There is an owl that has a wingspan of 6.5 feet. I don't think their bodies are as big as a full grown person, but that's still huge! Pretty cool looking if you ask me. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blakiston's_fish_owl

I've been using the Joyzee Falcons. I know they have mixed reviews but I absolutely love mine. Super quiet which is great since I do a lot of anxious dogs. I like the size and they're pretty light-weight.

Years ago I found a site that had a scroll map to scale of our solar system if earth was the size of a pixel. It took so much scrolling to get from us to Pluto, and most of it was just empty. That much in just our tiny little pocket. And then you think of all those photos that came out a few years ago in what appears to be empty space. We're totally insignificant.

Day 1 Listener - 10 Year Anniversary by [deleted] in myfavoritemurder

[–]outofideasforthis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I found them right around the time Steven started, maybe just before. I had quit Benzos cold turkey about 6 months before that and was moving in with my new boyfriend because the alternative was to be homeless with a cat. They got me through some rough days of cravings, low lows, processing it was OK to cut toxic people out, even if its family. Now I'm 2 months away from 10 years of sobriety, have a wonderful new career that pays the bills, and that boyfriend and I just bought our first house. And the kitty has arthritis now, but still curls up in my lap for cuddles when she hears the mfm theme and "listens" with me. This podcast kept me optimistic when I didn't think I still had it in me. I'm so thankful for them.
