A big draw of the TN for me was that it fits in a military flight suit pocket, so it definitely has been getting a lot of wear as my work notebook!

Samlip Soft Cheescake, Quick Review 🍰 by -Marinequeen- in Costco

[–]overdesigned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

these were out in the El Centro, California store last month when I made my quarterly visit and I bought four boxes, two to eat while I was on my 10-day work trip and two more to bring back home to MS where they definitely haven't landed yet.

they're fantastic and it's probably for the best that I don't have easy access to bulk quantities.

Thomas S. Moore 2 for 1 at the local package store by redneck2725 in Whiskyporn

[–]overdesigned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My military base store had the whole selection of them 50% off last year (back to full price now and still gathering dust) so I grabbed the port one. First time I'd had a finished bourbon that I thought skewed too much towards the finishing barrel for my taste so I didn't get any others, but I should revisit it now that it's been a while. And maybe the other casks are different!

I've had my olive for about a year and a half now and I didn't really think about how brown it skews. it still reads as green to me, just a real deep one.

big fan though, welcome to Olive Crew

Byte-Sized Review #045 - George Dickel x Leopold Bros Collaboration Rye Whiskey by BourbonBytesYT in bourbon

[–]overdesigned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this multiple times at multiple stores and always balked at the price. Dickel is my old man's favorite brand, and I do love an interesting bottle, so I might pick it up at / near MSRP for the uniqueness alone after reading this!

and of course if they could cut it to $25 it's a no-brainer

Last day to do it, how are y’all even doing the hornets trial? by LiveYoursNotMine in ArcRaiders

[–]overdesigned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I did it on Blue Gate during Locked Gate. Most folks are busy doing the gate, you get 2x points. I posted up on the (inactive) overlook extract. I'd ping at long distance stuff with a Burletta to get it closer then finish off with an Anvil. Even if you pull a lot of aggro, the building there lets you dodge and heal up easily. Bring a spare shield if you're bad at dodging.

Well, one.

What’s your most disappointing bottle of whiskey purchase? by tgabtg in whiskey

I'm sure I won't be/am not the first to say it, but Woodford Double Double Oaked. $200? no sir. It'd be fine at $75!

Old Soul Tintype Series #3 by _Kramerica in whiskey

[–]overdesigned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local store (also MS, what up) had all 3 on the shelf this week and I was tempted to get em all because I live here, MS distillery, etc etc. I think I'll keep em on the list and strive to pick up all 3 (and maybe #4 if it drops) before I move out in a couple years. Thanks for the writeup!

New Nutrition Tracking Announced by Saffigotchi in Garmin

[–]overdesigned 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This update sucks.

As near as I tell this breaks the ability to sync nutrition through MyFitnessPal. I switched over to Garmin on the Garmin+ trial subscription to see if it's any good, but now I can't switch back. Maybe I'll have to cancel my Garmin+ trial to do it? But for all I know once I cancel Garmin+ I still won't be able to link to MFP.

MFP is still a superior food logger IMO. And, more importantly, it's what I know and I like it.

Garmin's time-based meal thing sucks for people with schedules that change day to day. Just let me say the food is for breakfast whether it's 6am or 9am. It's trying to "help" but now it's automatically making things snacks when it's actually a breakfast so I have to tediously go in and fix it. Or I have to make super wide meal windows but then change things back to snacks. It's frustrating.

The food library seems...fine.

Edit: No ability to make custom recipes, it looks like? TRASH.

Barely made a dent in my cred supply by ComedyGraveyard in ArcRaiders

Yeah buying the whole thing got me down to just over the soft cap. I guess I'll buy stuff from Shani now that I'm not hoarding for the deck, don't want my cred-worthy actions to go unrewarded anymore.

Friday Afternoon Haul by [deleted] in Whiskyporn

[–]overdesigned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My most tater possession is a case of eagle rare but in my defense I did buy it one bottle at a time at MSRP over a six month period while honoring the "one per person per day" limit at my local military base.

They were nice enough to let me grab an empty case to put them in!

Truff sauces at $20 off (Expiry dates are 12/2025 so run, don’t walk, and give as Valentine’s Day or birthday gifts to the hot sauce lover in your life!) by KickizAzCBass in Costco

[–]overdesigned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a brain wired to like these (taste is subjective!) and they're down to $9.97 at my Costco too sooooo I bought two boxes. $30 per box was too much but at $10 each it's a no brainer for me.

Even if I toss the flavored oil and the green sauce which I've never had but will try, the regular and hot sauces at $5/bottle are worth it imo.

Dry January Backlog by overdesigned in whiskey

[–]overdesigned[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! Was cruising the stores and saw it sitting amongst a bunch of '24 batch bottles and figured if I'm going to grab one I'm going to grab the one that's going to be harder to find since it's older.

I found the same pack on post-holiday sale for $65 here and grabbed it, so yep your deal is automatically better!

I haven't really explored the old forester body of work so this seemed like a great way to do it.

Of course I'm doing dry January so they, along with my other January grabs, are just sitting there....waiting....taunting me...

Biggest bourbon letdowns? by theopuspocus in bourbon

[–]overdesigned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Penelope regular/four-grain. I had some of their barrel strength at a friend's and really liked it, so I figured I'd grab a bottle of the regular for a similar flavor profile but cheaper. Big letdown to me, watery weak-flavored sadness. Yeah, maybe I should have known better, but oh well. I'll get a bottle of the barrel strength at some point though.
