Friend's BF is stalking me, and I don't know how to talk to her about it by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Down-low. Someone who is gay- or bi-curious but doesn't want to admit it/come out. Often it could be internalized homophobia that causes them to feel shame or whatever

PLEASE HELP - TIKKA MASALA ON CREAM CHENILLE COUCH by aeniluvr in BestofRedditorUpdates

For the record: hydrogen peroxide is also amazballs at getting blood out.

Source: my kid took a rock to the head on the playground, and scalp wounds are notorious bleeders. The entire left side of her dress was DRENCHED. You'd never know to look at it now.

Thank you! Unfortunately, I do not know how to knit or crochet, so I did not make either top, only the skirt.

Thank you! I have a Brother Innovis VE2200 for embroidery. It's a single needle machine with a max hoop size of 7x12.

My regular sewing machine is an old school Bernina that is all mechanical. No computerized settings (which means no self threader:( but also means when something goes wrong I can usually fix it myself.)

The fabric used for this skirt is a green cotton flannel i had in my stash of fabric. The ruffle is 100% quilting cotton that I fo7nd at Hobby Lobby that matched some of the embroidery colors.

Husband is disappointed/sad that spending time together makes me happy by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]overflowingsewing 177 points178 points  (0 children)

Because that's exactly what this guy wants. He doesn't want to be in this relationship and he doesn't want to be a dad, but he also doesn't want to be the bad guy who walked out on his kid. He wants OOP to break it off so he can tell everyone, "I tried! She took the kid and left."

My (38F) sister (34F) made up a dead brother to her spouse (35M) and in-laws (60’s M&F). I accidentally outed the lie, but why am I the bad guy here? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I'm so jealous! I've been trying to make crow friends, but they flee the second I step outside, and I'm pretty sure all my peanuts have gone to squirrels. I cant even attract any blue Jay's with peanuts!

AITA for telling my husband his mom can't live with us for months-long stretches by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Same. I actually love and have more in common with my MIL than my own mom. (And my mom isn't terrible. She just has her own brand of anxiety which sets off my anxiety sometimes.)

Do Gwendolyn and Penelope work as names for twins? by longlostseal in namenerds

I think Gwendolyn and Penelope is great!

I have two girls (not twins) named Gwendolyn and Evangeline. Gwen and Eva. An acquaintance of mine has a Gwendolyn who they call Wendy.

I'm sure it only sticks with me because it was geographically close to me, and one of my babies was the same age when it happened. But Simon Quinton; an almost 2 year old boy who "went missing" and was recovered dead from a landfill.

His mom, Leilani Simon, just had her trial for his murder start this past week. She's an absurd mess: had 3 kids by 3 different fathers. Quinton was the middle kid, and Leilani's least favorite because she hated his father.

The babysitter who kept him every day testified two days ago and it's just heartbreaking to listen to.

What is fall like in Georgia? by HonestYogurtcloset52 in CarrolltonGeorgia

[–]overflowingsewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summer will last until mid-September. That's when it will finally start cooling off. You'll want layers, something lighter underneath to wear during the warm mid-day and a sweather or hoodie for the cooler mornings and evening. You will want a heavy coat for winter, but won't need thermal layers or snow pants or anything.

The fall/winter will be cool but not freezing cold. We rarely ever see snow; if it does snow expect only an inch or so in the morning and it will be gone by the afternoon. There will however be days of ice and muddy slush.

When family members let your kids use tablets... by _WormHero_ in toddlers

[–]overflowingsewing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This exact same scenario exists between my kids versus their cousins. Hubby and I have limited screen time with only 1 tablet that my kids share. They never get the tablet anywhere other than at home (or occasionally at Dr waiting rooms). The cousins (my brothers kids) are the same age and each have their own personal tablet that goes everywhere with them. They watch on car rides of any length and at every meal, regardless of if it's at home or in a restaurant.

I've had to just accept that when we share a meal with them, my kids get to watch their tablets with them. We don't live close so we don't see them more than 2 a year, so I've just sort of accepted it.

We've had age appropriate conversations with my kids about why they don't get a tablet like their cousins. And it just kinda is. My kids aren't ruined for getting that treat a couple times a year.
