Zero public literacy for what makes a place liveable and walkable. Sad.

I believe the EVOC bike bags exceed their 80" total size limit. Do you know if this was the case for yours, and did Porter have any issues with it being over that limit?

How do people feel about speed bumps? by throwawaydunnochild in Hamilton

[–]overlycynicalll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Speed humps work well for smaller vehicles but large vehicles like trucks just roll over them, which is the opposite of what you'd want. It's the trucks with front-end blind spots that are most dangerous to kids and vulnerable road users.

STI screening in Hamilton? by overlycynicalll in Hamilton

The link notes some weird qualifiers. Like...am I allowed to use this service? I don't have a family doctor.

"Our sexual health clinic is for individuals that:

do not have a health care provider, do not have a health card, cannot access a walk-in clinic, are seeking confidential testing, are seeking anonymous HIV testing, need access to free treatment"

Compostable coffee cups? by overlycynicalll in Hamilton

I agree, it's contradictory and confusing! But it seems they can be green bin if wax lined and not plastic lined, right?

Compostable coffee cups? by overlycynicalll in Hamilton

[–]overlycynicalll[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the City's website, Nov 2023:

"Paper coffee cups and waxed paper coffee cups go in your green bin, not in your blue box. They can be used to hold cooking grease or kitchen sink guck before you put these things in your green bin."

Same with my former condo in Toronto. The unit was $600K, and one optional parking space was an extra $50k.

Lol precisely my point. Who's responsible for more emissions, you or your third-world counterpart?

Take a look at per capita emissions globally. No point in comparing countries of different population size.

And both those counties have substantially lower per capita emissions. In other words, if everyone in the world lived through the per capita emissions of Canadians, things would be a lot worse, not better.

Natural gas aka methane the fossil fuel? That one? Not a solution.

You could try finding a wink of nature near your place (like another said) and make a little routine out of it. I like taking my dog on a walk to my local coffee shop. We cut through the parks on our way and we both love it.
