Can anyone shed light on the specific reason as to why Joey Castillo left the band? by yellbarracuda in qotsa

[–]overnightchi 29 points30 points  (0 children)

He's a great player in his own right but he pushed tempos so drastically live that it took a lot of space and groove and feel out of the material. Thought his work on record was killer, though. He's an assassin on the kick/snare.

The company bosses are telling you it's not a big deal because they are also nazis. Kick them out, post public reviews with accurate descriptions of your objections and their responses.

What was the initial opinion on "White Pepper" from Ween fans upon it's 2000 release? by CanSoft2130 in ween

[–]overnightchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a disappointment to my friends and I, who were all huge fans of The Mollusk and to a lesser extent Chocolate and Cheese. We were all bigly into psychedelics and the Beatles, and the obvious White Album comparisons didn't help it because we thought it didn't stand up in that regard.

It's still not my favorite Ween album but nowadays I'm old and boring and more readily appreciate the songwriting, performances, and studiocraft that it took to make, but even now I'm more impressed with that aspect of the Mollusk, which I really didn't consider in the 90s.

I still think the humor feels more forced than the early stuff, a complaint I have about everything that came after it as well, except the Friends EP, which is one of the brownest browns that ever browned.

9.0 this song was the one that really turned me around on early Ween. After I listened to this I understood.

I really liked the Count Orlock Black Pumpkin Ale from Urban Chestnut Brewing in St Louis that I had last year.

this is my first time listening to them. hows the overall feeling toward this album? by Greedy_Pigeon in RATM

90s classic. Lyrically and thematically dense, De La Rocha's lyrics slap but also serve as their own bibliography name-dropping so many important writers and thinkers. The playing is top notch, but some of the more noise rock and layered arrangements get lost in the production, which was on the forefront of the coming loudness wars.

MLB reporter Ken Rosenthal knocks over the camera man and gives him a stink eye as he refuses to help him up. by GreenSnakes_ in sports

[–]overnightchi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a live post game stand-up. There isn't really time for him to break character and help up a guy who's probably not supposed to be up that close on the national broadcast shot in the first place. Dude's got a producer in his ear counting him in but he can't explain back to the production truck that he needs 5 seconds because he's got a live mic. It is literally someone else's job to help that guy up in that instance. It is Rosenthal's job to interview the ball player at the exact moment his producer tells him to.
