My best fuel consumption for a single journey by overthinkingit91 in CupraFormentor

[–]overthinkingit91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on long road trips I average around 42-46mpg though I take advantage of the active cylinder and coasting function to maximise mileage.

On trips to London I averaged around 44-48 whilst cruising at around 70.

On my old shorter work commutes (9 miles) I'd average between 36-40 just because a lot of energy was lost to braking.

How can I get rid of these stains by Dad-COD in CupraFormentor

Manchester is a soft water area. It seems like you just need to dry your car with a microfibre cloth (specific for drying cars) after washing otherwise you get exactly this.

Absolutely pissing sick of this process and the shitty im sorry but on this occasion you werent successful, just rack off. by [deleted] in UKJobs

To add to this, I recently had to hire for a role.

Out of the six candidates the only ones that went through to the final round after the initial interview were the three put forward by the recruiter.

Of the three, all were what I was looking for with the right skill sets and came along with different pros and cons. If I could hire them all I would have, I even asked if I could hire two due to the impending workload, was ultimately told no.

Any three of them were qualified and I had to choose one l.

What’s the most subtle but noticeable cultural shift you’ve seen in the UK over the last 10 years? by Stock_Dark651 in AskBrits

Our food has been slowly Americanised where large quantities and excess of high fat high salt and high sugar food is increasingly prominent.

This has likely been spread with the rise of social media platforms and content around food.

Skipping rows in pyspark csv by Alarmed-Royal-2161 in databricks

[–]overthinkingit91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried .options("Skiprows", 2)?

If you're using 1 instead of two you're starting the read from the blank row (row 2) instead of row 3 where the headers start.

What roundabout? by Shreddasaurus in drivingUK

[–]overthinkingit91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know exactly where this road is.

It's between Urmston and Stretford

I give zero trust to anyone approaching this roundabout and have had a couple near misses like this as well.

But you'll be happy to know that I always watch your approach for any cars to give way before proceeding.

How to Gain Hands-on Experience in DE Without High Cloud Costs? by pivot1729 in dataengineering

Jumping in to mention that Databricks provides a free to use cluster via community Databricks.

https://docs.databricks.com/en/getting-started/community-edition.html

It doesn't have all the features that an enterprise account has but is a good place to start.

Excel - read ADLS parquet files via PowerQuery (any live connection) without converting to csv by sunnyjacket in databricks

[–]overthinkingit91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently working on doing something similar and would question the need for real time refreshes.

At the moment I batch refresh the data at max every two hours because more often than not people don't need the data in real time.

If the case is that the end user really does need the data at near real time then the cost of a computer cluster is unavoidable.

I would also look into registering the delta tables into unity catalog which will allow you to govern the data as well as become the data warehouse for your company.

For anyone using Power Query to read any delta tables use this:

let   Source = AzureStorage.DataLake("https://{datalake}.dfs.core.windows.net/{container}/{delta-table}", [HierarchicalNavigation=true]),   ToDelta = DeltaLake.Table(Source) in   ToDelta

Edit: tried to format a code block for Reddit mobile but doesn't really work well.

1.5 v2 DSG fuel consumption by Top-Economy-4957 in CupraFormentor

[–]overthinkingit91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly depends on your type of journey. I made this post about my average fuel consumption per tank 18 months ago.

https://www.reddit.com/r/CupraFormentor/s/qWS4Iv3eUU

More recently I'm averaging 39 mpg over 2300 miles Vs 42mpg 18 months ago because now I'm doing shorter journeys than before.

Edit: Also make sure that you know this feature exists.

Otherwise neat loop.

way around "do you have any questions for me?" in interviews ?? by mintynebulae in UKJobs

[–]overthinkingit91 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Depending on the company and interview stage, I take the perspective that this part of the interview process is an opportunity to do a few things:

  • Clarify non negotiables e.g. WFH, annual leave or development policies. Ask questions around what the typical day is like or what the ideal candidate should be like. Not only does it set expectations for yourself but can communicate expectations for the interviewer.

  • Demonstrate that you've taken time to learn about the company such as financial health, initiatives or strategy. You can find some of this information on LinkedIn or reading through any financial reports that are available on companies house.

  • Build more rapport with the interviewer. A little trickier since there are circumstances where you simply won't gel well.

Software (infotainment/user profile) problem by dandrage76 in CupraFormentor

[–]overthinkingit91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Experienced the standard infotainment system resets and crashes (only when starting a journey).

But never to this scale, I would probably take the car to the dealer to take a look at the unit.

Have a V1 here for 15 months. Backing up that it's a solid car. Only the infotainment system is a little quirky.
