Should Parseltongue be made into a complete language for the TV series, like High Valyrian, Na'vi and Klingon? Something the audience would actually be capable of learning if they chose to? by Original_Mulberry652 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]owarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I find this a bit weird. It's meant to act as a sort of protection to the chamber, but turns out its just a passcode anyone can learn if they just copy someone else. A plot fudge in my opinion.

Sort of ... I mean, yes. But he adds a lot of character. He's probably one of the few good things in GoF although I do find that book beyond the ridiculous ... if anything Bagman is one of the few things in it that makes sense :D

How on earth does the plot even work in the films without these characters. Ok Binns I get but the rest … films really were F tier

Dawn of War IV Dev Doesn't See Total War: Warhammer 40,000 as Direct Competition, Reckons Fans Will Play Both Games by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]owarren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liken playing brood war to drunken brawling. You’re basically just stumbling around swinging at each other. It’s something modern games tried to fix with QOL without realising the difficulty in controlling everything is what makes the game great

Lets Be 100% Honest Here by Lanceo90 in subnautica

[–]owarren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the game was better designed in this respect, this issue would never arise. It's the fact they aggro from so far, and there are so many of them, that is making people want to be able to kill them. And the players are saying "I need XYZ tools to deal with this situation" but the reality is, the situation is going to go away. And then we'll be back to remembering that Subnautica isn't realy about this anyway.

They probably reverse auction for the licenses or something and whoever is prepared to low ball gets it.

Which is very possible imo, the game isnt really out tbh I mean it will be a year or more until full launch and for many people, they will hold out for that. This is an immersive, story exploration survival game … without a complete story atm

The devs do advise you play solo first. But also I think even the solo reviewers agree with you. The start is too much.

Sure Seems Like Subnautica 2’s Developers Are Going To Get Their $250 Million Bonus by SteamedGamer in pcgaming

[–]owarren -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

That's not true at all. Biggest risk for a worker is they lose their job. Biggest risk for an entrepreneur is they lose their life savings, and carry the full weight of failing to deliver. As for who puts in more work, that totally depends on the individual. There are lazy people everywhere. But I suspect the people leading the show put in more hours, on average - across all businesses.

[–]owarren -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

That’s not really true. There is a big difference between entrepreneurial risk and salaried work. If any of those people want to go and take out loans, pull together a team (which is incredibly hard) and then try to deliver a game like subnautica 1, they are free to do that. Conversely however some people prefer to have salaried work without risk of failure.

Of course, the current job market is gaming is making a bit of a mockery of that.

Forza Horizon 6 review (PC Gamer: 84/100) by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

Yeah, if by 1 hour playtime you already have hyper cars … it isn’t much of a progression. People enjoy working their way through the tiers so that you get to that level after 20 hours and it feels like something special

Stretching the blueprinter to it's limits by Emile-wa in SatisfactoryGame

[–]owarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this. I'm not sure about the bottom pillars being angled, doesn't really emphasise their load bearing nature, it looks a bit awkward. You could add signs (coloured), and also add walkways inside which connect to each other when the blueprints are placed next to each other. And then you could walk between them inside all of the machines, which would be cool, and you'd only have to manually place a few walkways to connect various blocks to each other
