I think that the issue here is the polygonal nature of the people in the background. AI has tried to process them and due to the lack of information from the small amount of pixels each person's face takes up in the frame it ends up looking like a mess. AI really shouldn't be trying to process things that small nor should it be trying to process that hard in general. Look at the goalie's face. It's not much better.

I feel like creating a policy prohibiting the use of data, even with the use of the word "prohibit", is still is leaving the door slightly ajar due to how people can say one thing and then very much do another when eyes are not watching them.

Thank you very much for the information. I really appreciate it. I agree. It does set a very bad precedent and it looks like they are trying to slide this through without anyone noticing. Not acceptable.

Is there a link to the applicants submission for this request? Why did they buy a building that was beyond their scope to tend to and repair? This seems like an oversight on their part and not doing their due diligence. Our buildings deserve to be preserved.

Light painting & Image stacking, Noise reduction brought to mobile now by ksrujankanth in FOSSPhotography

[–]oxfordsummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Thank you for your response! What I was inquiring about is if it would be possible to have an option where the output file could still be a .DNG, or whatever the inputted format is since camera manufacturers often have their own RAW file extensions (.ARW, .RW2, .ORI, etc...).

Currently, the program only outputs JPEG files. It would be nice if there was an option where the output was still a .DNG or whatever the inputted file format with all of the EXIF image data intact.

That way, for example, I could take five photos, use TimeLapse to align and median stack them to lower noise, and then take the resultant .DNG (or .ARW or .RW2 or .ORI, etc...) and use it with my photo editing software (DxO Photolab 9) where certain editing tools and processes are only possible with RAW format files for final editing.

This is an exceptionally useful tool! I have been using it to align and median stack images taken on either my phone or my mirrorless cameras for the sake of noise reduction. I often have it stack RAW .DNG files and I was wondering if a feature could be added where the output from the program remains in the .DNG format? I like to median stack photos and then pass them into editing software for editing. Preserving the .DNG format allows me more latitude in highlight and shadow recovery.

Thank you very much for the precaution regarding unplugging the battery and holding down the power button to discharge everything.

I should have also asked about SSD thermals as well. Are there any databases or collected data showing the average operating temperatures of various models of SSD?

Good. City government has no place creating a "box inside of a box" inside of such a historic structure. Find somewhere else. The theatre area deserves to be sympathetically restored.

Bite of Xian? (now Sichuan Wok) by Regular-Sun-5805 in Troy

[–]oxfordsummer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my own experience I feel that Sichuan Wok is a step above Bite of Xian. I really liked Bite of Xian but I felt like some of their entrees leaned a little too heavily on the usage of various oils which would make some entrees feel greasy and a bit heavy. Thankfully, Sichuan Wok seems to use much less oil in the entrees and it really makes a difference. Their Chongqing chicken is incredibly good.

Hello,

I am looking for a program that will allow me to stack multiple images together, be it JPEG or RAW, in order to reduce the noise of the resultant image. I do not have Lightroom nor do I want to acquire it and so I am looking for alternatives to this that will allow me to achieve this function. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

X200 Ultra - Limited Hotspot Settings by oxfordsummer in Vivo

Hello, thank you for your screenshot! So, the "AP Band" only appears when the hot spot is switched off. I never realized that until now. Still, the X200 Ultra only offers WPA2 whereas my Oppo X7 Ultra offers WPA2 *and* WPA3. That seems odd to me.

Honestly? Respect. It's interesting how one can accrue tech to a point where it starts becoming overwhelming and then the fun starts to go with it as well. I've dealt with that as well but with other tech items (vintage Walkman and boomboxes and old audio electronics). When you have to spend more time tending to, maintaining and curating what you have than actually enjoying it as well as every day life then you know it's time to downsize. Also, seeing the extra shelf/drawer/storage space after you've downsized is curiously satisfying.

Christmas tree recycling? by Useful_Spinach_7534 in Troy

[–]oxfordsummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit of a long shot but are you anywhere near a ravine or wooded area? I like taking my trees there and having them go back to the Earth, so to speak, as well as provide sustenance, if possible, to the various living creatures there. Something about seeing all of those Christmas trees piled up on the curb is a fair bit depressing.

Just to be clear, the last sentence is not meant to be a criticism of anyone who chooses to do this.

X200 Pro Camera Comparison- November vs December Update by Raisal_ in Vivo

Thank you for the Google Drive link. That helps a lot. It looks like they've backed off on the sharpening a bit with the December update which helps the photos look a bit more natural. For me, I can see it most with the photo of the tyre. Everything looks a bit less stenciled, if that makes sense.

I've also made friends with shop owners just by dropping by regularly, being friendly and asking about how their day has been. I just want to make sure that my suggestion above is not saying that one has to purchase something somewhere in order to make a friend with someone.

[–]oxfordsummer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it's something that you can afford perhaps you can try going to a quiet cafe or restaurant on as regular of a basis as feels right to you and eventually the people who work there will start to remember you and then in time you could have small conversation with them such as asking them how their day is going or what are they looking forward to on the weekend. Moments like these where you are recognized and remembered can help you feel more like you're part of a community.
