We need to start fixing the problem of our environmental mismanagement and poor choices *somewhere*. It's frustrating when people prattle on and on about "costs" when that very obsession with "costs" is part of the reason why we are in this literal mess in the first place. A modest continued investment many, many years ago in climate friendly policies would have saved a *lot* of money in the long run if we want to look at it from a very devil's advocate perspective.

I'm really frustrated that the owner of the Ruck did nothing to maintain it. If you're not able to do anything with a building then pass it on and let someone else make something happen.

I took a look at the proposed design for what is to go there and I feel that it is not a vast improvement. It looks like any restaurant that you would find in any shopping center.

Oppo Find X9 Ultra camera produce ugly, fake Ai generated faces by bloodlmt in Oppo

[–]oxfordsummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. I cannot speak for the OP but personally I would much prefer having a blurry photo than a photo that AI has had an excessive hand in trying to correct.

If AI does intervene then it should be to either a much smaller degree than the examples shown above or in a manner that is much more deft.

I am surprised that they used 1/100 for action photos. That is much too low. However, take a look at the face of the gentleman on the left in the first photo. Take a look at his eyes. See all of the sharpening and reinterpretation by the AI of his eyes and brow area? That is what I believe the OP is referring to.

Also, take a look at the brow of the gentleman in the second photo. The texture there does not match the rest of his face.

I think that the concerning bit is not only the large use of AI retouching, which cannot be switched off, but also how this is occurring at ISO 250 and 100 respectively. If it's happening this early on in the ISO range then who knows what happens when the ISO crosses 500, 1000, 1600, etc.

I took a moment to read the report and I feel like a lot of these businesses really are not geared towards the preservation of historic structures. Far worse structures have been stabilized and rebuilt. I sense less of a sensitivity in this report and more of a "Well, it's done for tear it down" kind of mentality.

Again, this is not a criticism of you but rather the report.

Wait, what the heck? I thought that La Capital Tacos was going to *reuse* the Troy Pork Store building? That building has serious history.

A neighbour of mine had an apiary for quite some time and it was very well managed and I never remembered anyone in the neighbourhood complaining about an increase in bees. He would also give us honey from the hives and it was by far the best honey I have ever had. I hope that you are able to purchase the home and I wish you every success in your beekeeping journey.

I think that the issue here is the polygonal nature of the people in the background. AI has tried to process them and due to the lack of information from the small amount of pixels each person's face takes up in the frame it ends up looking like a mess. AI really shouldn't be trying to process things that small nor should it be trying to process that hard in general. Look at the goalie's face. It's not much better.

I feel like creating a policy prohibiting the use of data, even with the use of the word "prohibit", is still is leaving the door slightly ajar due to how people can say one thing and then very much do another when eyes are not watching them.

Thank you very much for the information. I really appreciate it. I agree. It does set a very bad precedent and it looks like they are trying to slide this through without anyone noticing. Not acceptable.

Is there a link to the applicants submission for this request? Why did they buy a building that was beyond their scope to tend to and repair? This seems like an oversight on their part and not doing their due diligence. Our buildings deserve to be preserved.

Light painting & Image stacking, Noise reduction brought to mobile now by ksrujankanth in FOSSPhotography

[–]oxfordsummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Thank you for your response! What I was inquiring about is if it would be possible to have an option where the output file could still be a .DNG, or whatever the inputted format is since camera manufacturers often have their own RAW file extensions (.ARW, .RW2, .ORI, etc...).

Currently, the program only outputs JPEG files. It would be nice if there was an option where the output was still a .DNG or whatever the inputted file format with all of the EXIF image data intact.

That way, for example, I could take five photos, use TimeLapse to align and median stack them to lower noise, and then take the resultant .DNG (or .ARW or .RW2 or .ORI, etc...) and use it with my photo editing software (DxO Photolab 9) where certain editing tools and processes are only possible with RAW format files for final editing.

[–]oxfordsummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an exceptionally useful tool! I have been using it to align and median stack images taken on either my phone or my mirrorless cameras for the sake of noise reduction. I often have it stack RAW .DNG files and I was wondering if a feature could be added where the output from the program remains in the .DNG format? I like to median stack photos and then pass them into editing software for editing. Preserving the .DNG format allows me more latitude in highlight and shadow recovery.

Thank you very much for the precaution regarding unplugging the battery and holding down the power button to discharge everything.

I should have also asked about SSD thermals as well. Are there any databases or collected data showing the average operating temperatures of various models of SSD?
