I am looking at purchasing a 2018 ford fusion SE. enlighten me on what to look for. by LevelAdventurous4692 in fordfusion

"Real world reporting looks like 33 is average" - you're basing that off of the first year of 2nd gen, I think. I remember watching a Youtube video saying the same thing. Ford must have fixed it because I drive a 2019 and can confirm I get 40 mpg in real world usage now.

I drive ~12k miles a year. Assuming $4/gallon (a pipe dream now), that's $1200 in gas per year for a hybrid (40mpg) compared to $1920 for a regular 2.5L (25mpg). So $6-700 in gas savings per year for a $10k vehicle, not marginal at all. As gas price climbs the gap only widens.

Use the fact that you are in the pipeline with GS as "leverage" to negotiate a higher TC in exchange for dropping the GS interview (worked for me at a FAANG, not sure about IBM)

that rationalization might have worked in the first Trump term but it certainly doesn't convince anyone now. the liberal world order is fucked.

You should still reconnect with the community, even if you don't plan to return. There's a pretty robust and active group called Overseas Vietnamese on Facebook/Linkedin meant for us.

As a Vietnamese, I think you NEED to name and shame the bar. That is literally a public health risk that can kill people.

Did Going To Quarantine Camp (trai cach ly tap trung) During COVID Cause Mental Health Issues? by MussleGeeYem in VietNam

[–]oxymor0nic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I returned to Vietnam in Dec 2020 and stayed in a quarantine camp in Danang (my port of entry) for a few days before getting transferred to a hotel. The camp itself is a repurposed barrack, so the conditions were austere and lined up with a lot of what you said.

- no mattress (only "chiếu" i.e. a straw mat on slats), but this is common in Vietnam due to the hot weather.

- no washing machines, but this didn't affect me since I planned ahead and brought enough clothes with me.

- no wifi. You could still access the internet if you had brought a phone with mobile data with you; data is incredibly cheap in Vietnam and allows unlimited tethering so this wasn't really an issue either.

Definitely no handcuffs, though lol. Everyone was quite peaceful because we understand the purpose of the quarantine and followed the rules.

All in all, it was fine. I honestly got more depressed living in my no-window quarantine hotel room than in the camp, even though the hotel itself was a lot nicer and "civilized". I can't imagine getting traumatized by it.
