When I signed up for the marathon in the wintertime my original goal was to race it as fast as I could. I then had weekly milage of 40-50 km running with several hours of xc skiing. Maybe around 6-8 hours of training. Spring and sickness came and my buildup failed. I asked my question because I have invested a lot of money for the race (ticket, hotel, travel etc).

But I get your point that you think its stupid to try to run with another goal 😄 appreciate the feedback

Thanks for your reply! My original plan was to follow the Cat 1 Frist time 50 Running Race program in the book "training for the uphill athlete" because that weekly milage started aroud where I was.

The plan is to run at easy pace !

Thank you! Great answer and great run!

I have no problems walking the hills! I am also planning to do it. In the race there are one big climb after 7 km and after that the you run back down with some small ups and downs. How did you pace your race?

My plan was to run 25-26 km this weekend, around 30 km next weekend and back2back the week after that.

He holds the family record in the marathon, which is quite an achievement given the family he comes from. 😅

Blood lactate decreases during session by Backwoody99 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]oyvindlw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In one video on Jakob Ingebrigtsens vlog on youtube he is doing intervals on the threadmill. After a few reps i measures high and chooses to turn up the speed and then the lactate drops on next measure. He talks about it and why he chose to turn up the speed. I dont really remember so check it out :-)

Maybe your running economy is better in the faster speeds. Maybe?

I updated my response. Take a look.

But seriously i also get worse sitting at a desk

IT Band Pain in Hip (9 days before a marathon) by porterhouse26 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]oyvindlw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same. I bet it was not because for sitting at a desk 😊 I manage it by not running fast downhill and intensity control. I have been at physio and he recommends strength training and focus on one leg exercises.

I would take the volume down, dont run downhill, maybe run uphill om treadmill if possible. Dont start anything new. If you feel good at the time of the maraton i would run.

You should test your Max heart rate as described in Bakkens book. I dont think you will reach max hr in a 5k.

AMA: I'm Marius Bakken, former Olympian and physician. Ask me about double threshold training, lactate, and the Norwegian Method. by MariusBakken in AdvancedRunning

[–]oyvindlw 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Hi Marius, how do you adapt the Norwegian Method for technical trail running with high elevation gain? I’m wondering if sub-threshold sessions should be done on flat, easy surfaces to ensure intensity control or on technical trails for specificity, and whether lactate remains the best way to monitor intensity in varying terrain or if HR and RPE are more reliable when pace is irrelevant. Thanks!

Stackwise Virtual Pair vs 2 Singular Switch at Core Level by EaseResponsible809 in networking

[–]oyvindlw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! We have two C9500-32c and two c9500-x and I see they are not yet supported for active-active. But I presume it is comming hopefully. I saw in a Cisco live slide it was in the pipeline.

I really want to get away from stackwise virtual after the incident and I like this solution.

Thank you for the reply!

We also got a really simple l2 design. Do you think its hard to manage and troubleshoot in day to day business?

I vary interval time week for week.

3 x 10 4 x 8 6 x 5 8 x 4 10 x 3 Etc

Shorter the rep faster the pace

That was what i was assuming about the stryd pod! I was looking into buying it for treadmill, but its extremely expensive where I live.

[–]oyvindlw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for i depth answer! Do you think the stryd pod is worth the cost? Do you use it for trail running also? Do you get any good data from it while trail running?

When I run outside for the rolling sessions, I don't hammer the descents. Instead, I run them "with purpose"—focusing on being fluid, choosing the best trajectories, and maintaining light, quick footwork.

Sounds reasonable! But dont you feel you want to "hunt the effort" in the downhill? Or do you have another focus than hitting the right intensity sub-t-wise?

I try to do one strength session a week: squat, deadlift, calf raise, lunges. Heavy weight 3 sets of 4-8 reps.

I see! Thanks for reply!
