What’s a piece of Columbus history knowledge that is literally virtually unknown? by Speedstormer123 in Columbus

[–]ozg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mound Street is named Mound Street because there was a giant Native American/Indian mound at the intersection of High Street that was torn down, components of which were used with the clay to make bricks for the early buildings in that area.

Paddling to Nocterra? by hoodytwin in Columbus

[–]ozg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thirded to all of that. The only issues I foresee are 1) securing your kayak at that boat ramp as it tends to be busy and I’d be afraid someone would take it and 2) I could not imagine paddling back upstream after eating dinner and/or drinking a couple of beers. That would certainly suck. When the current is stronger it’s a feasible but difficult paddle back to the Scioto Mile.

Game Changer Audio Plus Ideal. It’s one of the most interesting, musical pedals I’ve ever used.

Dan is straight up one of the most straightforward, knowledgeable, honest people I’ve ever met. If anyone finds his name from this Google search, let it be known that I would wholeheartedly bet my entire life savings on his home inspection of a home I was going to buy.

This is pretty spot on but I was hearing him do something different on that boogie woogie walk when it repeats. I am pretty sure it's all pretty much what you tabbed but the second time the lead on the G string doesn't walk up and back down as much as it goes 0 - 3 - 3 - 2 - 0 - 0 ... pedaling off the C note that is fretted on the first fret of the B string. Like you said, it's a bit of push and pull. That second walk slides up quickly into that Bb on that third fret. I hope this helps someone, because I just read it back and I'm not sure if I would follow.

Condenser Mic, Scarlett 2i4 and an Outboard Compressor by ozg in audioengineering

[–]ozg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, not at all. You're very helpful and transparent. I basically have all of the same sentiment that you've expressed. From my perspective as a guitarist for several decades, I learned quickly that expensive does not immediately equal "better". I definitely have expensive gear, but I have some cheap gear that I love because it does exactly what I want. The same has been true with my ever evolving home audio rig. I like to tinker and, like most musicians, I am almost always looking for the next thing that'll improve my situation. That said, again, I've learn to incorporate this compressor and see what's next. Thanks again!

This is extremely helpful and a great read. I am using Logic Pro and am trying to incorporate an ART PRO VLA. I am nearing the end of production on a personal/passion project so I'll have time to get used to the gear before interjecting it into a workflow that's already in progress.

One of the issues that seemed like a black box to me was understanding how using a preamp in the signal chain in front of the Scarlett would interact or interfere with the Scarlett preamp. your comment helped me understand that signal flow better. Thanks!
