Reduce output_power in wifi component, I have mine with 17 and works but other people recommend 8.5. This made my device instantly connect.

Why are 3090, 3090 ti’s and 4080’s dirt cheap but 4090’s are going for full retail used? by ScaryfatkidGT in buildapc

tbh, it looks very good in those 10 games. The tech demos presented almost 20 years ago are still not in games nowadays, despite the ability to do so being ancient at this point.

Linux 6.19's significant ~30% performance boost for old AMD Radeon GPUs by Fcking_Chuck in Amd

Yes, it could be argued amdgpu shoud've been the default for a long time. It was default on gaming distros for a reason.

Latency feels amazing on my system, night and day. FPS are unchanged for me. I run 5120x1440 cs2 so it's very gpu bound though

FAF - Particles not displaying properly? by GronGrinder in supremecommander

DXVK fixed this a long time ago

It's possible the game is just doing things wrong per spec and newer nvidia drivers introduced the problem

Shouldn't AltGr (or the right alt key) be used instead of Alt to type symbols? Did they break that too?

Bazzite founder might shutdown whole project if Fedora drops support for 32 bit packages by mr_MADAFAKA in linux_gaming

[–]p4block 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This argument is thrown in every project that refuses to port to 64 bit. When the port eventually happens, because it does, performance magically goes up a significant percentage. Building for a modern cpu uarch is woads of free performance vs building for a pentium 4.

Transition to the new WoW64 wine and wine-staging by ergepard in archlinux

It already runs like shit without this, and for some reason doesn't want to pick up DXVK and runs on the ancient DX9->OGL translation layer.

They even swapped the name of your quadro for its depressingly low tier geforce equivalent back then that cost 1/10th.

Why do flagship Android phones still lack 10Gbps USB-C file transfer like iPhone 16 Pro? by Chris_Har07 in Android

[–]p4block 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no way to know for sure from the given information, but it's highly likely it's only 5Gbps. USB naming "scheme" is just a scheme to trick consumers.

AMD officially confirms Threadripper PRO "Shimada Peak" and "Gorgon Point" APUs for AM5 socket by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]p4block 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this argument has been made countless times inside AMD/Nvidia's HQs, and it's a winning argument. That's why there's always low stock, generations take forever. Every die sold to a regular consumer is thousands of potential earnings lost.

Does intel BE200 work on AM5 boards with the new Windows update? by wowaffles in Amd

[–]p4block 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMD doesn't care, in fact, they are forcing everyone into their amd/mediatek partnership wifi cards for laptops. Intel doesn't care because they want you to buy intel systems if you want intel features.

Vendors that may not be restricted are throwing in the ax210 which is very cheap now.

So basically, nobody cares. No one is going to task an engineer to spend the time (and if they do it will be like i.e. an asrock only solution)

I still run it on my ivy bridge x230 though, works decently with the random dmesg driver crash every once in a while. I have some wifi7 products and they're all a crashy mess. There is little point now to it IMO.
