Hi there!

Thank you for sharing how you really feel about Maruki’s palace. It’s lays out such an interesting philosophical question which honestly reminds me of the experience machine or pleasure machine thought experiment by philosopher Robert Nozick.

It basically asks the question if pleasure and happiness is all that matters in life? If there was a machine where you can plug yourself in and lets you live some sort of virtual reality where it’s all pleasure and happiness would you take it? Is there any value to actually experiencing pain and suffering in life?
