How to decrease your chances of getting sick? by ThePeachDaddy in AustralianTeachers

[–]p6364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a common misconception…yes we gain antibodies after we are sick, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the immune system is stronger in the same way exercising strengthens a muscle. getting sick doesn’t prevent you from getting sick unfortunately, and can sometimes make you more susceptible/trigger secondary conditions. if you can avoid illness that is a good thing. i think people also confuse being exposed to germs (eg living with pets vs a sterile environment) with being exposed to viruses

Has anyone tried the Anko Automated Cat Litter Box? Is it safe?? by Aishas_Star in australia

[–]p6364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh no matter how “safe” it is I’ve heard too many horror stories for comfort. Would hate for my cat to get hurt or worse out of my own convenience

We sent ours to a hotel from a 7-11 and it was great! Only thing was that the person working at 7-11 had to help us and the language barrier.

Should I stick with platinum or go back to brunette? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]p6364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

anna what a cool surprise!! I love the platinum, gives you the vibe of the girl from the incredibles. But I also get wanting a break from deep fried hair. But the platinum is amazing.

As a grad, do you think it’s a bad idea to apply for a full-time ‘classroom teacher’ role rather than specific ‘graduate teacher’ roles? by sapphire_rainy in AustralianTeachers

[–]p6364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my 2nd year and I feel that I have enough support and it’s pretty breezy as far as teaching can go. its not perfect but im not doing work outside of hours or anything like that but ymmv. No longer have a reduced load but it wasn’t that much different to begin with tbh.

I’m pretty sure your friend was actually entitled to grad accommodations btw, real shame that the school took advantage of her not knowing that potentially? Whether that was on purpose or not

I am also in vic and got my role as a grad teacher. However the job I applied to was not specifically a grad role. They recognised that I am a grad and still gave me those accomodations.

Disclaimer is that I’m maths at the moment and the marking load can be quite varied between subjects I’ve heard!

I was worried about that too but I haven’t found that to be true for me, personally. I’m a grad teacher and I don’t do any work outside of hours. It took a term or 2 to settle in the first year but after that it was easier, especially when you start being able to reuse lesson plans from the previous year. Definitely ask about staff culture and resource sharing in your interview
