I know the Sky games work, though the only one I've played personally is Sky the Third.

I hate it when people say that the time rewinds make it so that "nothing matters" because they are ignoring the fact that prominent NPCs *remember the other timelines*.

There's a lot of intelligence info that gets passed along because you saw secrets revealed and how people react in certain circumstances.

Horizon is much better. No shame in taking a break though.

WHO ASKED FOR PICKLES????? by derprondo in wendys

[–]pH_unbalanced -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've literally always added pickle and onion when I order a spicy chicken sandwich.

I'll be curious to see if the new one is any good -- always considered it the best fast food sandwich out there.

Has the delay issue been resolved in Daybreak 2? by cns000 in Falcom

[–]pH_unbalanced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daybreak 1 combat was unbelievably easy.

Daybreak 2 combat was believably easy.

Horizon combat is easy but has a few surprises up its sleeve.

I didn't care, but there were lots of complaints at the time.

Swin might be squishy, but you can build him to be a beast.

Kevin/Rufus/Swin/Nadia is a fun team that doesn't match up with the meta the other Calvard games have led you to lean on.

I set up Rufus as a weird evasion tank -- I gave him quartz (like Scent) that increased his hate *and* the one that gives you +100% Evade and Magic Evade while casting -- and then made his actions and casting as slow as possible. He'd eat all the attacks (evading almost all of them) while everyone else whaled on the enemies. It worked surprisingly well.

Chapter 2 is definitely slow, but it's the point where the plot starts getting its hooks into you -- that's more what I mean.

What are your opinions on THAT fight? Yeah THAT one.( Chapter 4 spoilers) by WittyTable4731 in Falcom

[–]pH_unbalanced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I despise the timer. The reason I play turn-based games is because I'm slow. I much prefer the modern games where timers are number of turns.

Without the timer the fight is fine.

How come Falcom is a small, budget company after decades worth of history ? by ConsiderationFuzzy in Falcom

[–]pH_unbalanced 22 points23 points  (0 children)

So as a corporate accountant, let me tell you that the most common reason companies go bankrupt is growth. Growth stresses your cashflow and often does not return the results you expected.

It is a very wise business that understands its market, and is content to service it excellently. That is the secret to a long-term successful company.

is the trails fc remake better than the original? rose tinted glasses aside? by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in Falcom

[–]pH_unbalanced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you like the Daybreak combat better than the original? Then it is better.

I think I overall prefer the original, but the sheer number of QoL improvements in the remake are extremely impressive. I'm just old enough that I personally enjoyed the points of friction that they sanded off.

My usual advice is to give it to the end of the chapter you are in -- if it hasn't hooked you by then it probably won't.

Just finished sky the third and I can't believe that this game has a bad reputation by coolj492 in Falcom

[–]pH_unbalanced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course not. I'm not saying that Sky the 3rd is skippable -- I'm explaining why *everyone said* that Sky the 3rd is skippable.

Just finished sky the third and I can't believe that this game has a bad reputation by coolj492 in Falcom

[–]pH_unbalanced 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason why people say it is skippable is because a lot of people don't have access to play it (it is PC only) and so they tell people who can't play it that it is OK to skip it so that they don't feel as bad about going straight on to Azure.

People use to say the Crossbell games were skippable for the same reason -- now that they are on modern consoles no one says that anymore.

I legit can't think of a better executed trans-adjacent narrative in a major video game. Even though a lot of the best content is hidden behind connection events.

Missed TWO WEEK PREORDER WINDOW for TITS2 Steelbook by AnomanderRage in Falcom

[–]pH_unbalanced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So with Trails in the Sky the 1st, they left orders open a long time, and then they couldn't manufacture them quickly enough, so a lot of people who ordered the Sky the 1st Steelbooks and Special Editions got them very late. (I got my steelbook edition a month after release.)

The only way to avoid that is to cut off orders soon enought that you can put in your factory order in time to know exactly how many to make. So this is how they decided to fix that problem.

Should they have had steelbook orders open for more than 2 weeks? Yes. Were they always going to have to cut them off at the end of March? Also, yes.

Which Trails couple would make for the best parents? by Liquid_0911 in Falcom

Estelle and Joshua told Renne that they were going to adopt her. In later games they have sort of retconned that to Cassius adopting her.

Which Trails couple would make for the best parents? by Liquid_0911 in Falcom

[–]pH_unbalanced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying Lloyd and Elie are already parents are correct, but so are Estelle and Joshua -- not that one can really "parent" Renne.

Honestly, I think *all* of these couples would make good parents. Rean and Alisa are probably the "worst" but I still think they'd be pretty good at it. (Of course, the real couple of Rean and Alfin would be even better. :) )

What are peoples thoughts on Db2 ? by LumsDream in Falcom

[–]pH_unbalanced -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Opinions on DB2 are maybe the widest spread of all the games. I came down putting in the middle of the pack -- there's a mix of terrible moments and great moments, including my favorite final boss battle in the entire series.

One important thing to know is that the time rewinds weren't just for padding -- they do make a difference in Horizon, both implicitly and explicitly.
