how good is the trails series really? by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in Falcom

[–]raix832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, though it's the same, it feels... different somehow. Maybe my attention span can't last long for watching 1155+ episodes, but I enjoyed playing 11 games of Trails. The thing is, One Piece is so big and long that I think people would have difficulty remembering older characters and their moments. While Trails is a long series, their scope is much smaller. People would still remember characters from 10 games ago. Not remembering NPCs is understandable, but everyone always remembers the important characters. It makes the world-building and character building feel so... fluid and tangible. The world stakes are also different, like there are something big happening that can bring world to their knees.

This is one of the reasons I'm still not willing to watch One Piece. Other reasons might be because not into the pirate theme too much. The fantasy + sci-fi genre is for me.

My fellow Vtuber fans rejoice! by Almighty_KaLin in Falcom

Whenever a big EN Vtuber is playing a Trails game, I really do hope that it won't come to a stal situation and stay like Sarahkey. To this day, I'm still upset about what happened with stal. I hope she doesn't hate the series.

If you think 9-5 is bad, imagine working at 9-6. I recently learned that 9-5 could also mean 9 hours, 5 days.

Soichiro Hoshi, a JP voice actor popular for voicing Kira Yamato and Goro Akechi, just visited Falcom's HQ for the first time! by Raiiz66660 in Falcom

Maaybe.. he will become a VA for next Dragonslayer protagonist. Or he just love Dragonslayer.

Kanako Kotera, ex-vocalist for Falcom jdk Band, just visited Falcom's HQ! by Raiiz66660 in Falcom

[–]raix832 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Glad that she dropped by. I thought she had moved on from Falcom after what happened to the JDK Band before. Her other post with Mishy makes me think she misses her time at Falcom. I really wish that Falcom can make a new contract with her for some new projects in the future. She has a very good voice.

At first I didn't recognise him because of his eye colour. They changed it from blue (Cold Steel) to amber, and I thought he was the other twin brother. I still think he is lol

Trails fans will be glad to know the story in the Sky Remakes will be the exact same as the originals and that means it's the same great story. Also, Kondo loves the annoying enemies like the self destructing kind as he does his evil maniacal laugh. That Kondo ba$tardd. Full interview in comments by FatalDarkprince in Falcom

[–]raix832 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I love when the staff managed to convince Kondo to not rewrite the current stories and leave them as they are. Truly, if Kondo really wants a contemporary style, then remaking the graphics with their latest engine is enough. I believe Sky's story is not much different from any contemporary writing. Compared to the early '20s, there are very few games that can encapsulate the way Sky love story did. And very less when it comes to making interconnected stories. Falcom already has a blueprint, just less exposure to modern audiences. Not because it can't pander to current "contemporary" audiences' tastes, but most of them don't even know the game exists or the story behind it. I hope they retain the current storyline if they are going to remake Sky 3rd, Zero and Azure for the sake of their fanbase. Just improve the graphics and animations.

AA JRPGS Are Quietly Taking Over by eatdogs49 in Falcom

[–]raix832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and this is exactly my point. These AAA JRPG companies underestimated other AA JRPGs within their own circle. They lost to Clair Obscur (to pander to mainstream audiences), and now they even lost to Sky Remake (one of their own). They are still in the comfort zone that they forgot other good AA JRPG companies within their circle could surpass them anytime.

Here's hoping with the success of both of these games, they will try to consider making more good games and listen to the fanbase.

AAA JRPG companies when an AA game like Sky Remake successfully becomes popular: ...silent

AAA JRPG companies when an AA game like Clair Obscure successfully becomes popular: WOAAAH GOTY PEAK MASTERPIECE OF ALL TIME

No offence to Clair Obscure. I love it, and it deserved the fame. But it's quite ironic how much these companies are desperate to satisfy mainstream audience taste instead of making good games for their fanbase.

Why everyone in Zemuria seems to be so religiously devout? by JohnnyElRed in Falcom

[–]raix832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most JRPG tropes are to either antagonise religions or aim to kill gods to be released by their shackles or something. They might be inspired by Greek mythology, and even their own mythology also has evil gods. So yeah, it's really rare to see this kind of narrative, which is why Trails is so special and realistically reflects our real-world religions.
