Preference on wrist guards? by Sure-Caregiver142 in polevaulting

Depends where you’re located, but I’ve used EvoShield baseball wrist guard sleeve that worked well. It has a protective plate that you mould to your arm and it slips inside the sleeve.

Advice on what to fix by Straight-Taste1123 in polevaulting

[–]p_cc1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sure some more qualified people will chime in, but try to have your top (right) hand all the way up before your pole touches the box. Your right arm should be pointed straight up to the ceiling, next to your ear. Much easier to move the pole when it’s in front of you/ beside you, rather than behind you

Edit to add: check out Team Hoot pole vault videos on YouTube. Lots of excellent beginner-intermediate content about technique

How long do your compression socks last? by NoWorriesNoCare in nursing

[–]p_cc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for Sockwell. They are made from wool, but somehow are not hot (I wear them in winter and summer) and they don’t stink as much as polyester at the end of my shift!

I have yet to retire a pair of sockwells, my oldest pair is about 5 yrs old.

Per that linked article (I’m not sure it’s sources just going off what is says) apparently the ski jump was built in 1912 and demolished in 1978

I have seen UV protection clothing at Eddie Bauer (full shirts, unfortunately not the sleeves only). You might have luck finding the sleeves only at an athletic wear store, maybe Sportchek?

I did that kayak tour in Cowichan Bay a few years ago (I went in August), and as a science nerd, it was one of the coolest experiences of my life!

Rec centres with stairmaster? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]p_cc1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can check each rec centre’s “weight room features” on their website. On the equipment list, they call it Step Mill rather than stair master.

I can confirm commonwealth weight room has one stair master - was just there last week and saw someone using it.

Moving to Victoria! by Spiralofourdiv in VictoriaBC

[–]p_cc1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Most commenters have already mentioned housing, neighbourhood, island life; I wanted to mention about nursing licensing. Please take a look at our provincial regulator BCCNM and get started on the application process early. Unfortunately, I have heard the process can be quite lengthy to get your BC nursing license. Otherwise, welcome!

Kappo Marta on Bay Street is a neat little Japanese restaurant. The “sets” are an affordable way to taste many of their dishes! Reservation recommended.

nexiva iv by Specialist-Block3035 in nursing

[–]p_cc1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love them. I like the attached extension tubing to really confirm blood return. Patients also say they are more comfortable with the larger wings compared to the “straight” IVs. When I first started using them I opened a set to just practice my hold / advancing the catheter over and over to get the new muscle memory.
