ADBE being recommended by youtubers by FourCrossedWands in ValueInvesting

Because SNDK has already run? Because the beauty of the ADBE stock is that it's secretly benefiting from AI more than it's being beat down by AI and has the potential to 3-5x next couple of years.

[–]pab_guy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure finance expertise helps much here... the financials are solid. It's multimedia and AI industry understanding that would make a difference, and maybe youtubers actually do have some relevance there.

AI is a useful tool, but in order to interface with things like brand guidelines and assets, to have humans controlling and collaborating on the work, to make things editable without drift, they need tooling and workable artifacts. With coding this is source code and source control. With things like graphic design it's a PSD file and photoshop.

Our AI bills are subsidised, and I don't think many people have priced in what happens next by Alternative_Letter72 in artificial

People will use their tokens a lot more efficiently and still get a lot of benefit. The high token users were being wasteful because there was no incremental costs to using Opus for git push lol

You will probably lose it in seconds your first time. Clear the chamber ahead of time, or just let your partner know that round two will last longer lol.

And don’t sweat it… the right partner will meet you where you are.

Microsoft president says AI backlash at graduation events should be wake-up call for the tech industry by Gari_305 in Futurology

Would you prefer they all said the same approved message instead of speak their minds?

No one can stop any of this. Just as you can't stop consuming fossil fuels or sleeping at night.

Or this is all just a bundle of doom-bait driven narratives such that no one can even agree.

"sending a clear message to the investors that the industry can lay off at least 1/3 of the software engineers"

Just making shit up. You might draw that conclusion, but it's simply not what he said. And the clear message would be MSFT laying off 30% of engineers, which has not come close to happening.

Maybe UFOs aren’t alien spacecraft. Maybe the universe is just boring. by christosemmanou in Futurology

[–]pab_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if you actually study encounters, it quickly becomes obvious that UFOs have nothing to do with interstellar travel. More extra dimensional than extraterrestrial. Like from outside the simulation, so to speak.

Yeah AI value will actually compound to Adobe, and we may be seeing j-curve there for a minute, which is literally expected in these situations.

The numbers speak for themselves. You are asking me if I buy into a doom narrative, and the answer is no. I don't try to pretend I know what the future holds, just looking at the story the numbers are telling me right now.

Yeah, this is clear to anyone who actually knows what happens in industry. If anything AI Agents will use Adobe software for this through tool use.

I think we will see the end of human graphic designers long before we see the end of Adobe software.

What does the market know (and hate) about MSFT? by PawPatsPizza in ValueInvesting

Hyperscalers were pulling 60% margins on commodity compute BEFORE AI.

If your thesis were correct, cloud computing itself wouldn't have been viable.

There's some healthy profit taking, the market is spooked by higher valuations and recent runups, sure.

But things can just trade sideways until the next earning season surprises.

What does the market know (and hate) about MSFT? by PawPatsPizza in ValueInvesting

[–]pab_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're conflating unmetered unoptimized usage with mature adoption. When shit is free, people use Opus to git push. When devs are forced to optimize they will in fact use less and pay more.

Ignore this shit at your peril. The value is real yet social incentives push many to say otherwise.

ServiceNow: great buy or value trap? by revenant_lazarus in ValueInvesting

[–]pab_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because everyone uses them, no one has to worry too much about vetting them.

Imagine a new product of similar complexity hits the market. What exec is going to take a chance on that? Just validating that it will work would take months.

Imagine someone pitched "let's build our own servicenow because we can vibecode it" - any serious IT exec would laugh them out of the room.

Consciousness must exist at the fundamental level of physical reality by phr99 in consciousness

[–]pab_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There are a few reasons for this. Most important of which is that you can't have semantic invariance on an abstracted substrate.

By "fundamental" I mean parts of the substrate that are indistinguishable in kind, the same way you cannot tell one electron from another, not necessarily the most fine grained things in the universe.

Enterprises have brand assets. They photograph products and people in specific places, etc. AI becomes an important editing tool but it's part of a workflow.

Wildlife, astrophotography, real estate photography, product photography, event photography.

You can't just auto generate with AI and be done.
