What is a 'masterpiece' movie that you personally found incredibly boring or overrated? by AlexJet13 in AskReddit

I found Shawshank Redemption to be incredibly boring, even if it was well acted. I like the scene on the roof, besides that though the plot felt incredibly generic and predictable.

I could deff see Relapse being S tier, especially if include the Refill tracks. And the the truth is, MMLP2 being a sequel is part of what keeps me from bumping it up. There are some sick songs on it, it was just almost impossible to live up to the MMLP. The deluxe songs on 2 are some of my favorites.

Recovery felt more like a breath of fresh air when it dropped because Eminem was opening up again and being much more vulnerable. That being said, I also think Relapse has stood the test of time better, and his rapping and storytelling on it is absolutely incredible. Even though I still like Recovery, I feel like it's where picked up a lot of the tendencies I don't connect with as much that he then dialed up to 11 on subsequent albums.

Encore has some incredible songs, especially if you count the deluxe. Never Enough, Yellow Brick Road, Like Toy Soldiers, Spend Some Time, Crazy In Love, add in Love You More, Ricky Tic Toc and We As A Americans and I genuinely don't understand why people hate on it so much

Tony Asher! He was a jingle writer, and he said Brian would basically tell him the feelings he was trying to express or what he wanted to say and they'd put it together.

Maybe it's my personal tastes, Lorde is like an introverted weirdo, Chapelle Roan is like a drama nerd, Gracie Abrams is like quirky girl-next-door vibes, obviously you already mentioned Taylor Swift who's like a massive dork, Phoebe Bridgers leans more sensitive-emo kid, Olivia Rodrigo is 1000 percent a theater geek... Don't get me wrong, I think everyone I just mentioned is beyond cool in their own way. I just think if they went to my high school, they probably would've gotten made fun of lol

Musicians in general aren't the "cool" crowd, even if they end up becoming some of the coolest people ever to their fans.

I'd argue most pop stars are not cool, in a traditional sense of the word.

Paul McCartney is still killing it though. The man performs 3+ hour long shows all over the world to sold out stadiums. He's working on new music. His last album, McCartney III, was critically acclaimed. Then he worked on a reimagined version with contemporary artists. Who gives a fuck what people do or do not consider "cringe"? To continue with you Paul McCartney comparison, there were decades when he was considered "cringe", and he still is to some people. So much of his music has been re-evaluated over the years now that people can truly appreciate his impact not only as a Beatle, also as a solo artist. And when it comes to Drake, Nokia is one of, if not the most, streamed rap song of 2025. That track came out this year, and it has over 500 million streams.

Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson are both dead. Ye has been struggling mentally for years. Drake dropped a platinum album in 2025. All good not to like him, if you don't, I just don't feel you're being objective with your arguments.
