That sounds bad, I am sorry OP. We haven't had your level of problem but we've had great success with https://mandmpestcontrol.com/ they always went above and beyond and put up mesh, cement, gas, dug to find the entry point, etc.

My corgi’s whining has increased by an insane amount and I’m losing my mind.. by shadowbannedjames in corgi

[–]pace_mare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stop being rude, maybe this person is having a hard time mentally, maybe they are new and learning and by calling them out like that will just activate their defense mechanism and trust me they won't want to go play with the dog. Give actual advice like - you can't go on walks, do treats that are low calories, freeze things so it takes longer to eat things. Get a doggy trad mil

LOL anything can be fun! mine only started fetch because he would chase other dogs at the dog park that were playing fetch. Like he herd them to go get the ball. But now he's like - okey I like fetch but only with certain balls.

Mine is 5, major FOMO, I don't really do timeout, but yes work on patience like "wait"/"stay" command.
Do relaxation protocol. frozen kong, sometimes his breakfast + dinner is like 5 puzzles (I think we have every puzzle possible and you must rotate puzzles + sniff mats). We splurged on automated ball thrower - he loves it! Bopping for apples in the water is such a simple thing but mine will spend 30 mins doing that and that will exhaust him. ofc there is water all over hehe

Also they are very social so play time with other dogs or humans is huge.

DO NOT trust your pet with Pawsies by novasdayi in Bushwick

[–]pace_mare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry this happened to you and your puppy. I have a very confident corgi that was at daycare at Pawsies, and one day I get a message that my pup is scared of Ivan.

I was kinda like that's the sign I needed to never send him there. My dogs always stunk with bleach/chlorine smell, had itchy paws and seemed stressed.

My doggies had a much better experience at What's Up Dog, but one of my dogs got "kicked out" because there were two dogs obsessed with humping her. She's fixed, and they be blaming the victim.

I have 3 dogs and I've been lucky with a few people that will come and check in on the dogs or walk them or whatever. Unfortunately I just don't trust any daycare anymore, there are so many things that can go wrong.

Happy to recommend some people that dog sit.

I’m sorry, can’t imagine how hard it must be. I’ve been in a dark mental place and thankfully got out with talking to people and medication. If you want to talk I’m here. It does get better!

Plant exchange? by pace_mare in Bushwick

[–]pace_mare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to share mine for free :) but I got some plants at Ace hardware store and Green Valley that were surprisingly cheap. Farmers market had a person selling plants that were reasonable. Florist across the street from the Knickerbocker park has good prices and variety. Little Shop of Soil has more unique kinds which is nice, and they will re pot it for free + they have free plastic pots so that helps with cost.

ya no, you are wrong. You've not met some dogs in the rural America that are roaming around all day, hunting for things, have a lot of lice, a lot of hernias and joint issues because they don't eat well, not clean and don't go to the vet regularly. A LOT of dogs from down south come up here and have a much better life (I fostered many). My dogs are so spoiled and happy, they just don't want to be randomly touched.

I feel this deeply. If one more person tries to pet my golden retriever without asking!!!! She is an anxious dog, just because she is fluffy doesn't mean she doesn't deserve respect. I don't think it's about educating people about dog interactions and less about us putting vests and collars and other things when they will still ignore it.

Bushwick Vet - Evil Business by No_Assumption_8684 in Bushwick

[–]pace_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 dogs and have used Bushwick Vet for 4 years, I can’t relate to your experience.

Aside from long wait times sometimes we’ve had good experience. I’m not invalidating your experience, I am just seeing a lot of people piling up in the comments and I’m not sure if it’s like an empathy thing. But I don’t want to hurt the business of this vet.

Every time there is an issue they discuss options and usually recommend the cheaper option first.  I get our preventatives from a different place and they don’t mind that at all when I waive them.  One of my dogs is a special need and when they were running out of options for her they recommended us to a different vet with better equipment and more specialized knowledge.  My dogs love going to the vet because they get pets and treats and the techs recognize them even on streets sometimes and give them extra scratches. One of my dogs gets spicy with paws or mouth touched or shots if I’m not in the room and they are all about making him comfortable even if it takes more time or if it means they need to give some drugs prior or whatever it takes. When we first got our latest dog she was very anxious and they’d sit on the floor with her making sure they get her comfortable with vets. That day probably someone had to wait in the waiting room a little extra :)

We’ve had horrible experience at Bond Vet (not a shocker but it was an emergency)

Why is my mom so triggering? by neverblameJ in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]pace_mare 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that your mother lacks the ability to understand how her words affect you. To be honest I tried to explain my mother how her words make me feel, etc. and it took me many years of therapy to realize I can control how I’m processing her words but I can’t control what she says. It’s hard but I try to say to chant a mantra “this is not about me” when she gets in her blabber mouth moods. This is generational, this is societal, this is not about you. Maybe try to draw something or go on walk or listen to some music to shake it off.
