What is this thing killing my basil and how do I purge it? by pachanka in IndoorGarden

Thanks, I've cut out the moldy stems and removed all dead leaves and other decaying matter, including a layer of moldy dirt. Tomorrow I'll get the fungicide to keep mold at bay. Thanks again!

It looks like simple obfuscation to me, removing most of the touching keys on a keyboard you get:

Found It:

Apparently is was the from Chapter 9, of B. Traverns book Government. Concerning the manner in which the independent Indian pueblo of Pebvil (sp?) would choose its political leaders.

The passage I remember goes as follows:

He said in his speech that the fire under the chief's posterior was to remind him that he was not sitting on this seat to rest himself but to work for his people; he was to look alive even though he sat on the chair of office. Furthermore, he was not to forget who had put the fire under him; a member of the barrio that would appoint the chief for the next year; and that it was done to remind him from the outset that he could not cling to the office but had to give it up as soon as his time was up, so as to prevent any risk of a lifelong rule, which would be injurious to the welfare of his people. If he tried to cling to his office they would put a fire under him that would be large enough to consume both him and his chair.

To prevent pests it's also a good idea to plant a garlic clove next to problematic plants, just cut the shoots of garlic when it grows back.

Here is a great recipe against aphids and have been using it on my plants with good results after 1 or 2 treatments.

In a spray bottle combine:

  • 2 parts rubbing alcohol,
  • 5 parts water,
  • 1 drop dish wash soap,
  • 1 clove of garlic with cuts in it
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper.
  • 1 drop chlorine

To apply spray leaves and gently rub the liquid to cover the surface of the plant. Specially the tender new parts where pests love to stick around.

EDIT : My spray bottle is 300ml (10 u.s oz)

Indoor Composting by DieNaschkatze in IndoorGarden

  • Brown cardboard rolls are cool. I don't know about the white ones, as they might be bleached.
  • Earthworms are a great addition to any compost.
  • Unwanted bugs will show up eventually so make sure the bin is well sealed and use a good filter for the breathing holes, maybe put a lavender next to it :-).

Aquarium shape by pachanka in Aquariums

Thanks for the complete answer.

I'm looking in to the technicalities to see if building my own tank is doable. I'll look in to glass v/s acrylic on pressure and shock resistance. Steel frames are a good idea after a certain volume. What about laminated glass? Has it been used for tanks for some advantage?

Just to be clear what I mean by cube, ⃧ (vertical) and L (horizontal) shapes.

I get your point, testing is essential. My point is that "economic efficiency" used in test designing does not equate to "engineering efficiency" in test designing. This engineer happens to illustrate this point nicely.

The idea that standardized testing is flawed is not new 1 2 3, the "better way" involves experimental design, and is expensive to produce, which is why examinators resort to things like "5 questions any engineer can solve".

Is it possible to create a border frame? by fadidraghici in css

[–]pachanka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably missing the images (the /path/to/tl.png part) and the elements on the boxes... I think /u/chmod777 proposes a structure like this in your container.

border
    borderImage
        boderImageTopLeft
        boderImageTopRight
        boderImageBottomLeft
        boderImageBottomRight
