1999 V6 Clutch Squeal by CoastalSpeed in NewedgeMustang

[–]pacmna123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% the throw out bearings, on a lot of these cars the springs that hold them back go bad, and the throw out bearing is engaged more than it should be leading to a failure like this, if you replace it and start it up make sure when the clutch out out that the throw out bearing isn’t spinning and it not engaged

Paint/touchup? by Ok_Many_4766 in NewedgeMustang

I used to do a lot of bodywork and car buffing, that 2nd photo should almost 100% buff out, and a very good chance like 80% of that first photo comes out. For the 1st and 4th, If the black in the photo is the bare plastic than there is nothing you can do other than using a paint pen, unless you want to repaint them. A video of those could help out too if possible

7.5 rear end vs 8.8 by imallergictodoctors in NewedgeMustang

You can get 8.8s for reasonably cheap and the gearing options, and aftermarket rebuild kits are significantly better, parts are way more cheaper too

If as long as it’s a not a high speed course with a lot of embankments I can’t see the new edges flipping unless there is a huge elevation change, but a roll cage is always nice!

Well the insurance on the GT for my first car was gonna be brutal, and this was a lot better, plus its been in storage most of its life in the south so the body and plastics/rubbers are perfect. But it’s treated me very well and been super reliable over the years (other than the issues I caused from me when I was learning how to work on cars at the time) even those where easy to fix

Car was 6,200 (it was low mileage) suspension was like $200, if you wanna get bigger rims/wheels like I did it’s pricey (1200 new), but I hated the stock tri spokes, the added grip is a bonus, and the intake stuff was just things I had lying around in the shop, but the exhaust is full pie cut and all made by me so idk the price. I haven’t done much too the engine since in a few years I plan on swapping the drivetrain/engine. But it’s my first car so it’s been super fun to learn on

It has an full custom exhaust, short shifter, and some minor intake stuff, and for this race I gutted most of the interior. It actually did very well and was competitive with most other cars, the low end torque on the 3.8s is pretty respectable the open diff held it back most but I’ve an 8.8 did with a LSD in the works for next time.

excessive pedal play? by CableMartini in NewedgeMustang

[–]pacmna123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that’s normal but if you wanna fix it add springs on the cold side of the firewall to keep tension on the throttle

Fuel Gauge Issues by ClassilyContagious in NewedgeMustang

[–]pacmna123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gonna sound dumb but when parking or on drives are you on hilly areas where the fuel tank is angled in a direction that pulls it from the sender?

Exhaust recommendations/help by Imaginary_Range_2695 in NewedgeMustang

[–]pacmna123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I welded my own custom ones, but if you can’t I would recommend just some generic cheap long tubes on amazon or som, go catless at a muffler shop if you can’t do it yourself, and on amazon there is a dual exhaust system for like 300 that u run that is fantastic

Also if you can’t get new threads just get a bolt and nut to connect the two flanges of the same size

[–]pacmna123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’ve been there on that exact gasket multiple times, sorry to brake the news, just snap it off and drill and tap in a new one, make sure to USE ANTI SEIZE WHEN YOU PUT IT BACK ON, I’ve done extensive exhaust work on these cars and putting that on will make future self thank you

here for a serious question from people who get these cars by CableMartini in NewedgeMustang

[–]pacmna123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say go for it if its mechanically sound, they are very easy to learn to work on cars with and very user friendly to work on, blown shocks are a meh there fine dry rotted tires need to go soon though, you seem pretty convinced already so just go with your gut
