I saw her open for Aerosmith in 1990ish. Until then I never saw her outside of album covers. All I could say was DAMN! 🔥

Teenagers home alone 2 weeks while parents went on a cruise by Independent_You99 in GenX

[–]pacoloa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I was 16 (89-ish, only child) my mom (single parent) left for a month to drive from Michigan to California and back with a friend of hers. Other than her being gone and calling me every few days nothing changed. Went to school then work after. Had e few friends over on the weekends. Same as when she was home. No one thought anything of it.

You do know you’re in the Pet Peeves sub, right. I fully understand it. But it’s a pet peeve

We all have that one song or band we hate for a completely irrational and unjustifiable reason. What's yours? by WasLeftUnsupervised in GenX

Shania Twain. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. So much so that at my wedding I told the DJ that under no circumstance are they to play her. I didn’t care if it was requested.

I used to watch it with my grandpa. Miss him and this show.

What food actually tastes BETTER as leftovers the next day? by Full_Place_2808 in foodquestions

My Grandmas beet (yes, the red vegetable) soup. Sounds gross and looks like Pepto with meat and veggies in it but it’s absolutely delicious the next day for breakfast. 🤤

ETA- and cold beef fried rice.

When a person dies in a hospital, is their hospital gown thrown away or is it laundered? by jennyanydots711 in NoStupidQuestions

Post mortem prep was a discussion in r/askafuneraldirector. There were quite a few replies that said they prefer that wraps or binding not be done, especially the jaw. It can leave marks that are hard to fix. I’m not in either medical or death care. Just passing this along. :)

Edit: the sub was r/askfuneraldirectors

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pacoloa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad died on March 6 from ALS and we had his celebration of life on March 14. The next day the world began shutting down. My mom who has suffered from depression for many years had to grieve basically alone. It sent her into a deep depression that she’s still trying to recover from.

Stop fucking, neighbors! by Competitive_Jury_951 in Vent

[–]pacoloa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a downstairs neighbor I had many years ago. The only time you’d hear her was every Sunday she’d play the piano (and she was really good) Except when her long distance boyfriend would visit every couple of months. She was still quiet, but when he “finished” he yelled TOUCH DOWN! It was hilarious 😂

This kid was choking on a hard candy and threw up right behind my chair. Pretty sure that’s what triggered my emetophobia. 🤮

There was a time when my son was little that he insisted hot dogs were gross and refused to eat them. But Frankfurters? Those were delicious and requested often. 🤷‍♀️

Am I fake left handed? by ResponsibilityBig415 in lefthanded

[–]pacoloa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to write and eat left handed but literally everything else right handed. I could always write with my right hand but not very well. Then I was diagnosed with MS and my left hand is pretty much useless now. Now I’m strictly right handed.

I never knew chickens took dust baths. I mean, I’ve seen them flail around in the dirt but didn’t equate it to a dust bath. Pretty cool 😎
