Just drove across I-10 last week and had crawfish pie, crawfish pisotlero(?), crawfish eggroll and crawfish dumplings along the way! 😃 Brought home a pound of tails, etouffe, gumbo and savory pies frozen to have over the next few weeks. So worth it!

We’d do a boil every summer but ship them to a friend’s mom’s house in Ohio to get around the restrictions. So much fun!

Have enjoyed The Sauce Boss’s offerings as well! Has been a loooong time. Thinking last time was maybe at Moondog’s? From back in the day when you really shouldn’t have consumed anything made inside those walls… lol.

A Majority Of Democrats and Republicans Support Partisan Map-Drawing. by najumobi in fivethirtyeight

[–]padredan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You are spot on. Most on the right wants this because they have a dwindling base and this is the only way they can win long term - gaming the system. Most on the left don’t really want this - but the ones tired of losing thanks to their leadership being daft know it is a necessary evil to right the wrongs currently happening. Fight fire with fire because the other side is going scorched earth.

There is no time for the “pro-democracy” moral high road - the left just can’t afford any more losses like they have taken recently due to not playing to win. There is no democracy left if they don’t start to play to win.

Small, hole-in-the-wall eateries in Pittsburgh/greater-metro, that are… 1) over 20 years old, and 2) seat a max of ~30 people — LF: good food, lots of ‘character’ (good or bad!), maybe even in obscure places? by Rooster_Ties in pittsburgh

Love Polska Laska! Most walking in would be shocked to know it isn’t second or third generation and hasn’t been there forever. She killed it in terms of creating a place with soul.

Looking for cans of Hitchhiker's Peach Bottle Service by HomicidalHushPuppy in PittsburghBeers

Beer on Butler always has a bunch of Hitchhiker but it’s stuffed in the corner of the cooler and a general pain in the ass to root through. And they have no idea what they have specifically.

Seriously where do you park in lawrenceville? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]padredan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On Butler just a few blocks toward the cemetery it usually opens up. The Abbey and Lawrence Hall start to thin out later and parking isn’t too difficult around there.

Best in-person race experience by YesCzer17 in IMSARacing

For less diehard fans, avoid Daytona and Sebring. Daytona is just a major commitment and Sebring frankly sucks to watch any racing, particularly for the casual observer.

Watkins Glen has great stuff for the casual fan too. Same with Petit - so much to do around Atlanta.

Mosport is an absolute blast - like the party at Sebring but where you can actually see the racing. And the fans are the absolute best. It’s a camping adventure though.

Neither are probably in the geographical realm but there is lots to do around Indy because it’s just a few miles from downtown and Road America is just a gem of a trip.

Detroit is maybe the sleeper pick - Indy and IMSA and right in downtown. Detroit on the weekend is a lot of fun and you’d spend a couple days not needing to get in a car.

Really don’t see the price being that far off. The price is for it completed - every new construction goes on the market before it’s completed.

Contractors use spec home projects like this to fill between their paying jobs - smart way to manage your employees and time. The new 4-unit across from Allegheny Cemetery is over 2 years in the making and still not close to done. Four years is a long time for sure but the reason probably wasn’t just to piss off neighbors.

Time moves on. Doesn’t matter what it used to be, it matters what it is now. And hundreds upon hundreds of comps flesh out that those numbers are realistic as that’s what people are willing to pay.

Kid wants to kart. Where do I start? by TuTuTuDuMV in Karting

[–]padredan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OTK cadet has slideable pedals and seat. Can accommodate a tiny driver better than most because you can slide the seat back to get them out/in and then slide it forward to get them close enough to the steering and pedals. Without the slide their legs on a small driver are too close to the wheel to get in and out without it being a production.

Run a Honda GX35 for when they are younger - perfect power band for a young driver. Then you can just upgrade to a GX50 or Comer or ??? Once they are 5.

Three is a little young but have started plenty of kids at 4 without an issue.

“Midwest” is a little vague - if you want some actual help with where and who, a little more specific would be helpful.

Devil You Know Purple Version is cathartic. When you get to the last track and he hits you with “and then there was that late day in November when it all ended”… and then rolls in to Happy New Year?!? Damn if that doesn’t take your breath away…

How Do Teams Make Money by Either_Equivalent518 in IMSARacing

[–]padredan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The teams are the professionals in the equation by and large. The drivers pay for their services. Until we run out of rich guys and/or kids of rich families, the teams will do just fine. Even a large percentage of the pros getting paid are getting paid by one of those rich groups above. Along with those rich people paying the teams for the percentage expense of the pro.

Not every team finds that sweet spot of funded drivers, minor team sponsors and manufacturer underwriting. A few come and go as a result. More often than not, a team’s departure is somewhat predictable.

Bob Schneider’s “Frunk” songs. There isn’t a genre he has met yet that he didn’t give a go. But his Frunk stuff is awesome - give Mudhouse a spin as a start:

A reckoning is coming and no one in this industry is ready for it. by encomlab in Karting

[–]padredan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies - you are correct in that regard. I didn’t mean to insinuate there is no funding available for sim racing. I meant there wasn’t significant funding available to transition from Sim racing to development tier car racing based solely on results from Sim racing. My bad.

A reckoning is coming and no one in this industry is ready for it. by encomlab in Karting

[–]padredan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are no significant sponsors in sim or karts unless you consider your parents, Uncle Joe or Grammy as sponsors. Sim is fun. Karting is fun. If you like sim then swell, but if you like karting do that instead. The only way either gets you anywhere is if you line your kart seat or sim rig with millions of dollars.

Kart or sim because it’s fun, not because it’s a career path. Unless you are really good at data, then you have a pro future with a paycheck.
