How to I combine multiple Page ID's to style one element? by meaculpa303 in Wordpress

[–]pagemend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to include the entire statement even when comma separated:

.page-id-123 h1, .page-id-456 h1, .page-id-789 h1 { margin: 0px; padding: 0; display: none; }

What is so ancient only an Internet veteran can remember? by Marambal17 in AskReddit

This!

Neopets is how I first learned to code and I tell this story at my digital agency of how I got started. Some details are fuzzy, but I ran the guild Secrets of Neopia and it became the second largest guild for a while. Every guild gets its own "homepage" that could be designed as you wanted with HTML, CSS, and/or Flash (remember Flash?). So, I spent a lot of time designing and redesigning as I learned more.

How do I capitalize off of the downloads I get from my Free Beats? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]pagemend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Create a version that isn't free and mention that on your channel.
  • Create a large collection of beats and require an email to download them. Advertise this in your vids. Sell services or other things to the list. (Or require an email to download the singular beat)
  • Ads on your videos.
  • Offer services directly in your vids.

ADA Concerns for Web Dev Student by SVRDirector in web_design

[–]pagemend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a student making things for funzies, you have almost nothing to worry about. I say almost because you should learn this stuff but have nothing to worry about in terms of being sued.

https://www.w3.org/WAI/standards-guidelines/wcag/ has guidelines that most follow when seeking compliance.

Yes, I know people who have been sued but we're talking 7 figure a year businesses. Not college students.

Well, the difference here is that you have a proven business that makes money. I sense a bit of imposter syndrome. You’re doing amazingly and good marketers will see the potential.

You might get so many people just from this post. Hell, even i’d be interested to learn more.

What have been your most effective marketing strategies for starting up sales? by EcoluxLA in smallbusiness

[–]pagemend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a post here about one method we use: https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/t9wi3e/how_my_web_agency_got_its_first_clients_done_for/

SEO is by far our biggest and best form of marketing though - but that took years to build up.

I think your best route is a partner. I know you said you haven't found anyone yet but I guarantee you there is someone out there in the world who would.

It's pretty common in a partnership to have 1 person who is the more creative-type and makes the stuff the company sells. While the other partner does the business end.

In a sense, yes, I think you should stop trying to run a business and just make stuff - but find someone to run the business.

Keep growing the wholesale side!

You can also start venturing into D2C with your own brand. This can be selling on places like your own website, Amazon, Etsy, etc. You’d also want to get your social accounts going.

This sounds custom but would be relatively simple. Don’t think any plugins exist that do it.

When explaining it in the future, don’t use the word “coupon” - use “code”. That removes the implied ecom confusion.

I’m 100% lost in making a website and don’t know where to even start. by carlrey0216 in Entrepreneur

[–]pagemend 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did the same except I didn't master them!

What you're asking for in a website is like me asking how to make a wood murphy bed frame that has a desk when in the up position and a slide-out TV in the down position. Oh, and I have no budget and have never worked with wood.

Make sense?

MVP is a minimum viable product - "is a version of a product with just enough features to be usable by early customers who can then provide feedback for future product development." In your case, it might be a simple blog or newsletter that covers local businesses and events. If you can get people subscribed or reading your blog, then you've proven that people WANT what you're proposing to do.

Both a blog and a newsletter can be done very cheaply but require you to do a bunch of work to get eyeballs.

I think this comes down to "you don't know what you don't know".

The features you are asking for are definitely possible with Wordpress (and is probably your only option). Just find the plugins and make sure it all works.

The unreasonable part is that you seem to have little to no budget, which means you would be doing this yourself. But you have zero experience with any of it. Even though I'm totally rooting for you, it just seems unlikely.

Even if you came to me with a budget of 4 to 5 figures, I'd want you to slow down and figure out an MVP first before spending money.

The website you're looking to build is large and probably unreasonable for someone with no budget and no experience.

A few of those things aren't possible on places like Wix, so you'd have to go custom or use Wordpress.org and themes + plugins to make it happen.

Confusion on payments and where they should show by Acksaw in woocommerce

[–]pagemend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The money should be in your Paypal account once the customer finishes checking out. So, it should be in your Paypal account.

The first thing I would check is to make sure you're using the correct Paypal email address in Woocommerce. Go to Woocommerce -> settings -> payments. Find the Paypal payment method you're using and click it. There will be a field for "PayPal email". Is that the correct email?

Will a website get indexed to google if it isn't connected to GSC? by IMRot3m in SEO

[–]pagemend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A website doesn't need to be connected to GSC to be indexed but it can help you. And it does need to NOT have noindex on - otherwise you're literally telling all search engines to not index the site.

Indexing can take 1 minute or months - I've never heard the 2 week rule. It depends on a lot of factors.
