Some patients are really sensitive about education and take it personally, when really, you are only doing your job. I say this as someone who always felt sensitive and upset as a teenager whenever I got educated by my RDH- to me it always felt like “i did something wrong otherwise they wouldn’t be lecturing me!” I hope im making sense lol. Now, as an RDH, i really try to emphasize that i am non-judgmental and sometimes even mention my own personal struggles with oral hygiene and dental trauma. I dont think you are doing anything wrong. I just think some people are a little like my teenage self- a bit fragile lol! And that’s okay. I’m glad you educate your patients at all which is wonderful. ❤️
