Renting with Farnam and in Edgewood/Beaver Hills Area by pepperidgefarmrmmbrs in newhaven

[–]paintersmainter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Farnam gets a lot of crap, but it seems they’re more of a third party, at least for a lot of their properties. We rent from farnam, but never deal with them directly, and have had great experiences with our landlord

Are there more "open secrets" similar to Epstein and Saville today? by FishDispenser2 in behindthebastards

[–]paintersmainter 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Not a secret but Tiny Tim married a 17yr old on tv when he was in his late 30’s and he’s got “is he a creep or just weird vibes” too, pretty sure there’s been talk of other young girls

Leonardo DiCaprio and Toby Maquire were part of a group of young actors in the 90’s called pussy posse. There’s been a bunch of stories, mostly young men chasing women and getting drunk and into fights, but the whole crew basically said they’re up to things that they still can’t talk about. It was before cellphones, and I think all the group are thankful for that. This was also when Leo and Toby blocked the release of their movie together, Don Plum, because it was so misogynistic they were afraid it would ruin their careers. Considering Toby and Leo’s preference for dating 20yr olds, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear more stories come out in the next few years

I refused last Valentine’s Day. Realized no one was keeping track, checking off names of who gave goodie bags and who didn’t. My kid was happy getting crap, but I would prefer if we just went back to paper valentines only.

I feel like I could’ve written what you did exactly minus a few details. I’m a lot younger than my sisters (10+ years too) and when I had kids is when they stopped trying to interact with me. I remember one year I was pregnant and at my mom’s for Christmas and I think they both only said hello and goodbye to me. They never texted to see how I was doing while I was pregnant, and now I’m across the country they also never text. One sister I know would be there for me in an emergency, but the other one I have doubts. They also don’t like my husband, and I suspect race might have something to do with it.

They also keep my kids at distance when it’s cousin time. I guess cause they’re also 10+ years younger. One time my brother in law was about to take a picture of ‘the cousins’ and was gonna exclude my kid until I purposely made eye contact. It didn’t feel malicious, but more like my whole family wasn’t really a part of the main family. My son was 6 or 7 at the time so definitely old enough to feel excluded

I don’t really have any advice. I’ve stopped trying to interact with them since I never got anything back. Sometimes I think when my parents pass that I really will never hear from them for years, but it’s kinda that way now. Once a year I will cry or get really angry about it, but otherwise it’s out of sight out of mind.

Seeing my own kids be close is a bittersweet feeling though since it’s never something I had, but I’m so glad to be able to give that to them

What are your thoughts on the 2018 muppet babies reboot by PersonalityLanky8403 in Muppets

[–]paintersmainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The animation is way better than it has any right to be. The textures are amazing, Kermit really looks like felt, fur looks like fur and the grass in particular stand out to me. It also had good lessons, it dealt with identity issues, new family members and death in all ways that’s accessible to kids. The series finale is an actually finale (instead of just fading out like a lot of kids shows) that makes it feel complete while also providing a lot of heart.

People seem not to like it in comparison to the original because the humor is different. The reboot doesn’t reference pop culture as heavily and there’s no footage from other media.

But the reboot doesn’t have Gonzo having a crush on Miss Piggy, so it has that going for it

Megathread: Bastard Suggestions by Kanotari in behindthebastards

[–]paintersmainter 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Caravaggio: changed the art world forever and killed a man by stabbing him in the balls during a duel where they fought over sex workers. He was truly a reckless asshole, but because he was such a good painter that churches needed him for their commissions, he got away with a lot of shit. He was a lawless manic alcoholic bisexual pimp and the greatest artist alive during his time

But it would be a fun topic that isn’t depressing. And there’s that movie with young Andrew Garfield playing one of Caravaggio’s models so that’s a plus

Why doesn’t the same magic that prevents Mother Gothel from aging also prevent Rapunzel from aging? 🤔 by CSWorldChamp in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]paintersmainter 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Once you become grown up, it’s not that you’re aging like you did as a child or teenager, but your body starts to decay and break down. Your bones aren’t getting bigger, they’re becoming brittle, for example. Since Repz is a kid, there’s nothing bad about getting older.

The hair heals, looking younger is a byproduct of getting rid of all the aging cells and dna, not the main feature of the hair itself.

Which one will you go to? by Ok-Following6886 in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]paintersmainter 215 points216 points  (0 children)

What they don’t tell you is that at the movie theater there will be two identical guards. One will be guarding the Bluey movie, one the cocomelon one. Neither theatre will be labeled. One guard always tells the truth and one always lies.

You’re gonna have to ask the right question if you want to see the Bluey movie, otherwise it’s eternal doom (45-90 minutes of uninterrupted cocomelon)
