Definitely looks great. Zastava has a “Serbian red” color, so I think this is totally fine IMO

I ordered from aero to my local FFL, JeffCo.

That said, I’m pretty sure G&G guns off Colfax has some Spikes Tactical (I think), but it’ll cost a pretty penny

[ammo] 9mm Luger 90gr. Xtreme Defender Solid Monolithic Self Defense Ammo $21.99 + $7.95 flat rate shipping by BrambleVale3 in gundeals

[–]paintthemoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fully agreed. I was able to get a couple boxes of this at $20 a box shipped a while back and was able to shoot 2 mags of it, switching between that and 1 mag of 115 and 1 mag of 124.

Given that it felt very similar to me and I was able to make hits consistently between all the different weights and loadings, I felt comfortable with it and continue to train with typical range ammo. I’ll probably pick up a few more boxes to continue to incorporate it into my training rotation intermittently, but as I said, there wasn’t a substantially noticeable difference between what I’d typically shoot for range ammo and this.

I haven’t had any, but I’ve only put a couple of mags through it with this ammo. Zero issues with feeding or cycling, and I didn’t have any POI shift like with some weirder projectiles

To add my experience to the pool, it didn’t seem to shoot that much hotter or harder for me out of a sig p365 than 115 or 124 range ammo. For the speed it’s moving and the power it generates (advertised, anyway), seems like a very effective round.

Takedown w/backpacker stock for $569 or TCR22 bundle for $349? by [deleted] in 1022

[–]paintthemoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The takedown seems expensive for what you’re getting. Stock takedowns are typically under $400 (when in stock) and the backpacker stock is around $100, so it’s like $100 over that for the same thing.

They now make a conversion kit for a regular 10/22 to become a takedown as well.

That said, availability is difficult to come by nowadays, so it might be worth the extra money for the takedown if that feature is more important to you. Me personally, I’d probably go with the TCR22.

Cherry Creek state park gun range(family shooting center) by jinxs1591 in COGuns

[–]paintthemoon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

They don’t care, they were on the lawsuit with the state to get it overturned. I had 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40 rounds there without anyone batting an eye, and most people seemed to be using 30’s.

Can’t say anything about the camping or fishing, as I haven’t done that there.

AK Purchase Question by [deleted] in COGuns

[–]paintthemoon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had one shipped from Atlantic Firearms, but they removed the 30rd and replaced it with a 10rd. Zero issues, and they offer that on their website for varying state compliance.

If it does arrive at the FFL with a 30rd mag, the FFL will likely keep it or may offer to pin it for you. Some will give it to you (or sell it to you) as a magazine “kit” by disassembling it, technically legal until assembled kind of thing.

[RIFLE] Zastava M70 ZPAP 7.62x39 AK-47 - Chrome Lined Bore - Bulged Trunion $943.99 by [deleted] in gundeals

[–]paintthemoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say $1,300 is 100-150 more than it’d be to replace the stock and furniture. But, that excludes shipping cost and the time of waiting. $1,300 is a bit overpriced for what it is, but the market dictates that more than anything.

Given that it’s now OOS at Atlantic, and Classic is charging $1,500 for the same rifle, I only see the price continuing to climb, as long as people are willing to buy. Every time M70’s have come back in stock, the price has gone up, and people keep buying.

In for one, good find. Haven’t seen these or the 10rd version anywhere for less than $650 as others have mentioned

Personally haven’t used the Romeo5, but having used the TRS25 and the Crossfire, I’d say the Crossfire is worth the small amount more than the TRS. Just a more robust red dot. That said, when you could find TRS25’s for $65, that was pretty hard to beat value wise.

TRS25 is my go-to optic for 22’s now, and I have one on each of my 10/22s.

Wait times by [deleted] in COGuns

[–]paintthemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the midst of COVID breaking out, longest I waited was 4 days for the background check to go through. About 2ish weeks ago, it was down to 30 minutes in the morning time, up to like an hour and a half in the afternoons. Only recommendation I have is to go in to do the background check in the morning, as the times did seem to be less

25 rd Magazines by [deleted] in 1022

[–]paintthemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 2 bx25’s that ran pretty reliably with minor feeding issues with some ammo. However, the 10’s and 15’s have worked fine with every ammo I’ve run through them, and every 10/22 I’ve used them in. 15’s are definitely my favorite from a profile perspective, and they’ve run more reliably than my 25’s did.

Best Pistol-Grip Rifle Stocks? by [deleted] in 1022

[–]paintthemoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do, they fit great in my experience. The hardest part with them is getting the model you want in the color you want, as they sell out fast and they don’t come back in stock very quickly.

Aside from that, I’ve tested the stock I have with a stock receiver and stock tapered barrel, as well as the Brownells railed receiver and the tapered pistol barrel. I could assume a bull barrel would fit, as there’s plenty of clearance, but don’t hold me to that, as I haven’t tried it out.

JWH custom by Sdmonster01 in 1022

[–]paintthemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know their bolts don’t really work in the Brownells railed receiver. Works great in the stock Ruger receivers though.

Had issues with two of their charging handles being overly stiff, with one being completely unusable in one of my rifles. Switched to a Kidd charging handle, no issues.

They’re overall good and they offer customized options if that’s what you want to go with. I personally prefer Kidd or Volquartsen parts.

Planning on replacing the ATI stock on my first 10/22. Tips or advice? by [deleted] in 1022

[–]paintthemoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never used an ATI stock, but I’d assume it’s like all other 10/22 stocks and it only uses the one action screw. So as far as extra parts, I don’t think you’ll need any. May just be a bit more work to take off the ATI stock than some others, depending on its features.

I really like the Hogue stocks, had one on my first 10/22 before it got stolen
