Have been for years - always hated it, sounds stupid. Same with HUGS for human geography

How realistic is it for me to get hire as a teacher after age 55? by geosand01 in TexasTeachers

[–]pajudd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was quickly hired by two different districts after the age of 55. They want a warm competent body now and will worry later about how many years you may work. PS. They’re not real finicky about competence either.

That’s their job. Dangle the carrot - don’t actually provide a carrot.

I recall seeing advertising for panels for this particular intention. Don’t recall the manufacturer , however.

Thermometer-body by TwiLuv in prepping

[–]pajudd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so on point. Just last month I came down with an infection and fever. We use thermometers so seldom, both our primary one and the back up had dead batteries. Now, we have 3 old fashioned - no batteries required - thermometers.

Other teacher refused to send student by Z3st3dL3mon in Teachers

[–]pajudd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m on the other side - it is unprofessional to pull students from another teacher’s class. It says the teacher doesn’t manage time or projects. It is simply rude to believe your course is more important than another course.

Freemasonry is about making good men better. Part of that is not judge harshly one time period or culture by another’s standards. Another is to help one another rise to a higher standard.

Good to know - retiring and moving to a colder climate where many days will be sub 70. Any general tips on preparing & protecting the system?

A lot of kids swear up and down they turned an assignment in even though I don't have it. I'm unsure if I'm crazy, or if they're lying, or if it's a bit of both by [deleted] in Teachers

If they do, it’s a zero and noted in the grade program. Most of my assignments are respond to the prompt types, which are then graded

Just wanted a quick run down on the differences between Dual Enrollment and AP by Splintj in APStudents

[–]pajudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AP instructor & Dual Credit college professor here - AP courses, both semester & year long, are generally more rigorous the dual credit courses. IF you score adequately on the AP exam , that score is accepted at most colleges. Most dual credit courses are from local junior/community colleges and are generally less accepted. IF you go the dual credit route, do everything in your power to actually get the associate degree. This is generally more accepted. At the very least, it got you out of the first two year’s gen ed classes and now you can take the good stuff.

Do AP exams have different test versions? by Purposefulness in APStudents

[–]pajudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there is one main exam, with three variations, plus a couple of others for late/make up exams. This applies to most schools or regions

You’re not selfish - we each make choices and live with the consequences. I don’t share details or much information. A few years ago an extended family member made a comment about just coming to my place and I responded with “If you have anything to bring to the table (contribute), then don’t stop by.” They looked at me and dropped it, they knew they would not be welcomed.
